November 2021
Dear Friends of BLNC,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Boo on the Bluff over the Halloween weekend! We loved seeing all the families exploring the site and figuring out the clues in the scavenger hunt. It's a great opportunity to learn about the animals that make Bluff Lake their home, and why it is so important to protect natural spaces like ours. And thank you for the wonderful feedback from our survey:

It was more structured this year and easier to choose how much of the segments we wanted to do. We also liked exploring the different play areas!

I loved the scavenger hunt and getting to engage with more area of the preserve.

For those who snapped photos of their little ones enjoying Boo on the Bluff, please share your memories with us! You can email photos to Development Manager Leila Regan-Porter at [email protected].

We hope that you will join us this Colorado Gives Day on December 7 to support our efforts to conserve this natural gem in the middle of the city and educate our community while making nature accessible to all!

Early birds can schedule their donations now through Colorado Gives, as can those who donate on Giving Tuesday (November 30).

Families who are interested in programming during Thanksgiving break can check out our Thanksgiving Camp, taking place November 22 and 23. Details below!

Happy November!

Colorado Gives Day is December 7!
Colorado Gives Day is just weeks away, and you can schedule your donation now to help us reach our goal! We have been blown away by our community's generosity in past years, and we know that this year will be just as amazing.

As Bluff Lake's programming and visitation has grown, so has our commitment to conserving a valuable natural gem in the middle of a bustling city and making nature accessible to everyone. This means your support is important now more than ever as we continue our mission for this community.

We hope you will join so many other nature and education enthusiasts in supporting Bluff Lake by making a donation. You can schedule your donation any time now until Colorado Gives Day on December 7. For those who make their end of year giving on Giving Tuesday (November 30), you can use the same donate link to give.
Thanksgiving Mini-Camp
Sign up your kid for Bluff Lake Nature Center's Thanksgiving break mini-camp, which takes place Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23, 9AM-3PM.

We will learn and play as we explore the diverse habitats of Bluff Lake. Topics will include animal tracking, shelter building, and more. Complete fun activities and crafts, learn from environmental experts, and expand your exploration skills!

2020 was the launch of this Thanksgiving camp, and it was a huge success, so we are looking forward to it being a part of our programming moving forward!
Erickson's Site Update: The First Flurries
November 1 brought this year’s first snow to Bluff Lake Nature Center! Although it was only a flurry, it’s a good reminder that the leaves won’t be on our trees for much longer: come visit while the cottonwoods are still golden!

This fall, BLNC’s volunteer Weed Warriors have been hard at work managing both native and non-native, invasive vegetation to improve habitat for wildlife and create opportunities for native plant species to thrive. Invasive species threaten the integrity of native plant communities by outcompeting local plants for space, light, water, and nutrients.
