After 20 wonderful years, over two years ago, the Lincoln Square BID decided to say farewell to Winter’s Eve – our one-day holiday event. The pandemic gave us the chance to reassess our programming and develop a more robust month-long series of holiday festivities, including a traditional tree lighting, expanded lighting along Broadway, free outdoor performances, and other family-friendly experiences. More details on the BID’s 2022 holiday program, Lights Up, will be announced shortly. In the meantime, save the date: Monday, December 5th, at 5:00pm, for our Tree Lighting at Dante Park. New COVID-19 Booster Vaccines & Flu Shots Are Available

New vaccines targeting the latest version of the Omicron variant are available at pharmacies and community health centers. The F.D.A. authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech booster for anyone 5 or older who received an initial vaccination or booster shot at least two months ago. Adults 18 or older can get the Moderna vaccine if it has been at least two months since their last vaccination. The C.D.C. recommended the same eligibility guidelines as the F.D.A. Don't forget that Flu season is here again, so make sure you get your Flu shot too! To find vaccine locations, click here or here. DSNY Service Announcment

There was no collection on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022. If Tuesday is your normal recycling day, place material at the curb on the evening of Monday, November 14, for collection on Tuesday, November 15. There will be trash, compost, and recycling collection on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11, 2022. If Friday is your normal collection day, place material at the curb as you normally would.

11/16: Winter/Holiday Fire Safety Webinar

A Fire Program Specialist with the United States Fire Administration will discuss safety steps you can take to keep your holiday season jolly. The topics being discussed will include cooking, turkey fryers, electrical, severe weather, candles, Christmas trees, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and portable fire extinguishers. On Wednesday, November 16th, from 12pm - 1pm, this webinar will also focus on how to plan your escape route before an emergency happens. You can register here.

11/17: 20th Precinct Community Council Meeting

Due to Thanksgiving, the 20th Precinct Community Council is holding its November meeting a week early on Thursday, November 17th. The meeting will be at 7pm at the 20th Precinct (120 West 82nd Street).

11/20: Single Block Street Fair

There is a single block street fair scheduled to take place on the east side of Broadway between 60th - 61st Street on Sunday, November 20th, between 10am-6pm. The fair will benefit the 20th Precinct Community Council and Explorer programs and will be produced by Mardi Gras Events. The block will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the fair.

11/24: Thanksgiving Day Parade

On Thursday, November 24th, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will pass through the Upper West Side, drawing millions of spectators to the festivities. As a result, many streets will be closed, and traffic will be restricted. Click here for the official Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade website.

Lithium-Ion batteries are used in various devices. These batteries are commonly used in cell phones, laptops, tablets, electric cars, and scooters. Lithium-ion batteries store a large amount of energy and can pose a threat if not treated properly. Like any product, a small number of these batteries are defective. New York City Salary Transparency Law is Now in Effect

The amendment to the New York City Human Rights Law requiring salary disclosure in job postings became effective November 1, 2022. Under the law, failure to include the minimum and maximum salary for any position located within New York City in a job posting is an unlawful discriminatory practice. The law applies to employers with 4 or more employees and requires posting the minimum and maximum salary for a position that it would pay when advertising a job, promotion or transfer opportunity. Read the full report here.
