Many thanks to all the garden volunteers last month! Garlic is now planted into big garlic beds. It will grow slowly over the winter and then mature rapidly for a May harvest. Thanks to the students and parents at Holly Ridge Elementary for their “hands in the soil” morning! Many thanks also to hardworking Seqirus volunteers who spent a cool day volunteering in the garden and distributing food to Cupboard clients.
Also pictured are some of the 250 collard greens planted every year in the Food Cupboard garden. They’re thriving! With the cool fall air rolling in, these greens are getting their signature flavor boost. Harvesting has already begun, and fresh collards will continue to be cut for our clients well into next spring.

Thank You, 2025 Garden Volunteers!
What a season! Our awesome garden volunteers have helped yield an incredible harvest for Cupboard clients, and now the growing season is officially chilling out! With cooler temperatures and a slower crop yield, we are pressing the PAUSE button on garden workdays, which will resume in February. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make our garden a big success in 2025!
