The holidays are almost here. A friendly reminder that the Clean Air Express will not be operating Thursday, November 26th or Friday, November 27th. See below for additional information on SBCAG's Unmet Transit Needs hearing and an exciting new feature coming soon to the Clean Air Express.

As always, we remind all Clean Air Express customers to please travel only if absolutely necessary. Passengers are required to wear masks at all times while onboard Clean Air Express buses.

Thanksgiving Schedule
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no Clean Air Express Service on Thursday, November 26th or Friday, November 27th.

Looking ahead, there will be no service on December 24th and 25th. There will be reduced service December 28th - 31st. More details in future newsletters.

The Clean Air Express continues to operate on a limited schedule. Please view the routes and times currently operating at the links below. We will continue to re-evaluate demand for service daily and inform customers of any service changes. 
Unmet Transit Needs

November 19: Santa Maria Area Transit (SMAT) is holding their Unmet Transit Needs Workshop at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, via Zoom Webinar. Details

December 2: Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) is holding an Unmet Transit Needs Hearing at noon and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, via Zoom Webinar. Attend one of the hearing sessions to voice your opinion on how transit services can better serve your needs in the county. Spanish language interpretation services will be available at both public hearing options.

Onboard Credit Card Payment
The Clean Air Express has been hard at work to enable customers to pay fares electronically onboard the bus. In partnership with the California State Transportation Agency, devices are scheduled to be installed on select buses in mid-December. These devices will allow riders to tap their credit card, phone or smartwatch and pay for their ride without having to use a traditional transit pass. The Clean Air Express is looking for volunteers to help us test the new system before it is rolled out to all customers early next year. If you are interested, please send an email to
Mask Requirement
In accordance with the Health Officer of the County of Santa Barbara's Health Officer Order No. 2020-10, face coverings are required to be worn when using public transit in Santa Barbara County. Masks are required when boarding, riding and disembarking from all Clean Air Express buses.
