Message Notes

Message Title: “Ministers On A Mission”

… you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own – all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9, LB

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus ... – Colossians 3:17a, NIV

But God in his grace chose me even before I was born, and called me to serve him. – Galatians 1:15, GNT

Great Moments In Ministry:

1.     My life has more joy.

My life is being poured out as a part of the sacrifice and service I offer to God for your faith. Yet, I am filled with joy, and I share that joy with all of you. – Philippians 2:17, GW

2.     My relationships improve.

Pride only leads to arguments … – Proverbs 13:10, NCV

3.     My life is meaningful.
Always give yourselves completely to the work of the Lord. Because you belong to the Lord, you know that your work is not worthless. – 1 Corinthians 15:58b, NIrV

4.     My life is a legacy.

If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others. – Matthew 20:26b, CEV
Study Guide:

This week we focus on our calling to bless others through serving.  Every follower of Christ is called to serve or minister.  Even the most menial task becomes meaningful when we perform it for God.

1.     Read 1 Peter 4:10.  God has given you gifts and abilities, unique to only you, so that you can serve others and glorify Him. What is one way you would like to utilize who God has created you to be to help others this week?  Who do you think will receive greater joy, the one you helped or you?

2.     Read Matthew 20:28.  Think of the most difficult person you regularly encounter in your life.  What do you think would happen in your relationship with them if you were to intentionally serve them in some way?  How do you think that would affect your relationship with them?  How would your unselfish actions make you feel about that person and about yourself?

3.     Read 1 Corinthians 15:58.  How can your effectiveness in ministry change by knowing you were created to do good works?

4.     Read Matthew 20:26.  Maybe write down ways to model Christ’s servant attitude. Complete the list by including actions you can take to bless someone during the week.

5.     Think of ways you might serve others during the holidays.  Or how can your family reach out to someone or another family to be a blessing in a way only your family can.

6.     What changes do you need to make in order to be a good servant for the Lord? How would those changes impact your legacy?

Memory Verse:  But God in his grace chose me even before I was born, and called me to serve him. – Galatians 1:15, GNT
Current Message Series

Who am I? What’s the point? What does God want with me? What am I supposed to do?

In this new series, we’ll learn about discovering our calling and answering life's biggest question — what on earth am I here for? This series will look at the five dimensions of God's calling on our lives.
A Fresh Encounter

But the sea had made a wall of water on each side of the Israelites, so they walked through on dry land. On that day, when the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the shore, they knew that the LORD had saved them. Because of the mighty power he had used against the Egyptians, the Israelites worshiped him and trusted him and his servant Moses.
- Exodus 14:29-31, CEV

I was recently reminded of the Israelites at the Red Sea.

I can only imagine the fear and uncertainty they were facing at that moment. Their enemy, the Egyptians, were closing in on them from behind. The Red Sea, a seemingly immovable obstacle, was before them. They had no other options.

But God.

Suddenly and unexpectedly, He split the Red Sea. He decimated their enemy before their very eyes. And on the other side, they rejoiced. Moses wrote a song of celebration and God gave strength to His people.

I believe He wants to do the same thing today. And if you feel like the Israelites – wearied by obstacles, overwhelmed by setbacks and enemies, take heart.

The God who split the Red Sea is with you. The God who overcame the Egyptians wants to give you hope. The God who led the Israelites into their Promised Land wants to deliver you out of your struggle. And it’s my prayer that you would experience a fresh encounter with His love and presence.

In a frantic world, it’s in the stillness that we find peace. It’s where we know God and hear His voice.

This is what God’s saying to you today. Be still. Know.
“Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, ‘Sit here, while I go over there and pray.’”
- Matthew 26:36, ESV

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

Parent and Student GroupMe

We have a student and a parent GroupMe account to help keep everyone up to date on what's going on in student ministry. GroupMe is a group texting app that's a great forum for staying connected and asking questions. It can be muted, so you won't get notifications constantly. If you or your student would like to be added, just text or email Nathan at 706-464-7548 and nathan@theridgecolumbus.com.

November Theme - Gratitude

Hi, Parents!
This fall we're offering both in-person and online RidgeRunners experiences.

Kids ages 3 and up will meet in the gym for the full 10:30 service. Check in at the hallway table just inside the Turner Auditorium doors.

Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and sanitizing hands. Kids will sit only with their siblings on their own personal carpet. Kids must wear masks on their way to and from their carpets in the gym and while we are singing. They may remove their masks while on their carpets and not singing. If a child does not have a mask, we will provide them one at check-in. If you have an only child and want to arrange ahead of time for them to sit with a family friend, please let us know. If you have any questions, please contact Nathan at nathan@theridgecolumbus.com or 706-464-7548.

RidgeRunners will be live at 9:45 am on Facebook Live and YouTube. Join us for a game, worship video with dance motions, and a great lesson! You can also watch at any time throughout the week after the livestream.
