Simple Down to Earth Financial Advice

Thanksgiving is Upon Us

Every year I receive an overwhelming response to my Thanksgiving blog, once again I give you my list with a few updates. For me, Thanksgiving has always been a time to sit back with family and close friends and remind ourselves of all the things we are thankful for.

Here are a few things on my list:

My Husband

In the past I have not included Tim in my list. So often we take our most important relationships for granted. Tim and I have been together 30 years strong. He has always been my rock; the one person I can depend on without question. I would not be the person I am today without his love and support over the years. This year, in particular, I am so grateful to have him by my side.

Time Spent with my daughter

Morning coffee together these days is rare, but we still make the time to share our lives and chat about our days, both the good and the challenging. Although she still works with me part-time, she has launched into a new career, one that she loves and I fully support. Paige is my best friend, and I am truly thankful for her and our relationship.

A hug from my son

My beautiful baby boy has grown into a strapping young man; he makes me proud every day. Though communicating with his mother is not at the top of his priority list. However, he has started to randomly come up to me and give me a solid, long, loving hug. He doesn’t say anything, but I know this is his way of telling me he loves and appreciates me. I am thankful for him in so many ways.

My yoga practice

I have worked out for more than half my life; during Covid I started practicing yoga. I love the meditative movement, I shut-off the noise in my head and only focus on myself, both mentally and physically. Nothing changed here.

The cottage

I am so grateful to be able to head north on the weekends and spend quality time with family and friends. The renovations are complete and we are enjoying the simple pleasures of cottaging again; whether it’s snuggling up to watch a movie, reading my book, doing yoga on the dock, sitting by the campfire or walking the dogs; I love my happy place.

My work

I often say I am one of the lucky people in this world as I truly love what I do. I am so grateful I can help support my family by doing something I thoroughly enjoy. Thank you for your support over the years, I genuinely appreciate all my friends and clients.

Now it is your turn, what are you grateful for?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
