Dear Friends of The Blue Purl,

Forget about spring-cleaning. Doesn’t fall really feel like the new beginning?
School starts. It’s back to work. It’s time to get serious again. The leaves fall and the days get shorter. To us, that feels like family time.

That is true at our shop, too. We say our, because we hope you think of it that way, too. We hope you feel you are part of what we are doing here, not just as a place to buy yarn, but also as a source of support, encouragement, community, and fun.

To prepare for the new beginning, we have spruced up our shop. We will be open again on Saturdays, for now from 11 am to 2pm, but if there is interest we will expand those hours to serve your needs.

Yes, sure, it’s still necessary to think about the pandemic and remain vigilant. But that did not stop us from cleaning up (fall cleaning!), making room for our new yarn and the kits we have been mentioning in the newsletters. Please come by and check it out. There is so much amazing yarn in the sale bin for Local Yarn Store Day on Saturday. Hopefully the weather will clear and we can have a sidewalk sale.

The fall is also a time for change. We figure you can just let change happen, or you can guide it. The pandemic has slowed us down, all of us, but it cannot stop us. We won’t stand still, and we know you won’t either.

Let’s decide together that this fall is a new beginning, whether big or small. Pick a project, join a class, learn a new skill and commit to it. We will help you get there.
Or shoot for the moon. Set your sights high.

Let’s not sweat the small stuff. If your Wi-Fi glitches, or your sound gets funky, don’t worry about it. Let’s roll with the punches.

We have made it this far; we can accomplish anything, together.

Join Us on September 21!
Jennifer Weissman Virtual Trunk Show & Chat
Join us in a conversation with NJ designer & friend of
The Blue Purl, Jennifer Weissman.

Have you seen My Softer Side, just released this week (25% off until 9/14)? How about Uknity or Wove? How about sneak peaks to new releases this Fall & Winter? Jennifer will talk about her recent patterns, how to wear them, what yarns work best and give us a preview to upcoming releases. How does she come up with so many ideas when the rest of us were just trying to find Clorox, Lysol & toilet paper during the spring & summer?

Catch up with Jennifer over a cup of tea on Monday, September 21, 4pm, via Zoom, live. You bring the tea (or whatever drink you prefer, no judgement) & she'll bring the samples!

Zoom event is free but we have a limited number of spots. Please sign up to reserve your place. We'll email the link prior to the event.

Call or email us to sign up!
What's New?
Bee's Knees
Bee's Knees by Thea Colman is the cardigan we want to throw on all winter. Tam test knitted a shop sample version in Blue Sky Woolstok. The cardigan features a bold cable pattern from front to back, surrounded by a field of delicate texture. The pattern has instructions for adjusting the length & width of the body or adjusting the depth of the shawl collar or even working it as a straight button band. Come visit us to see this beauty in person! Tam loved it so much, she made a version for herself in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, a hint of things to come...

Until Sept. 22nd, the designer is donating 50% of her pattern sales to Fair Fight 2020 and the NFC Fund.
