2025 Legislative Wrap-Up!

Learn the Truth about HB 575

Hello Benjamin,

The Justice for Victims of Abortion Drug Dealers Act (HB 575) passed the Legislature last week! Sadly, a recent news report in the New Orleans Gambit completely got the facts wrong (big surprise). The truth is that HB 575 empowers women with the ability to file a lawsuit against the abortion industry for up to five years after an abortion! Check out the video above featuring our Policy Director, Erica Inzina, J.D.

Our top successes from the Legislative Session also include:

  • The Stop Coerced Abortion Act has passed! Led by Rep. Josh Carlson, the new law makes it illegal to use tactics often employed by abusers, like control or intimidation, to force a woman to undergo an abortion against her will.

  • Pregnancy Centers helping moms and babies were allocated $4 million in state funds!

  • Thanks to new laws, insurance health plans are now required to cover home visiting services for families with babies, an option that can greatly improve childhood outcomes. Also, Medicaid now covers doula services.

  • The main attempts to weaken Louisiana's pro-life laws were defeated.

Thank you for your support during the Legislative Session! We could not defend life at the Capitol with the support of our generous donors and Capitol Club Members!

TX CASE SHOWS NEED FOR HB 425

Last week, Texas man Justin Banta was charged with capital murder after forcing his girlfriend to take abortion inducing-drugs, known as “Plan C.” According to Fox4, the woman had previously undergone an ultrasound and was expecting a healthy baby. He had previously asked her to have an abortion and she refused.

This past week, two pro-life laws, HB 575 and HB 425, passed through the Louisiana Legislature that protects and brings justice to women in similar situations.

At the American Medical Association’s annual meeting, the House of Delegates rejected another attempt to revise their policy to affirm physician assisted suicide.

We are thankful that both of our pro-life bills passed the Louisiana Legislature and are now headed to the Governors desk!

On June 26th, at St. Cletus Church, pro-life expert and attorney Dorinda C. Plaisance will join estate attorney Greg LaCour to speak on topics of Pro-Life guidance on decision making at the end of life.
