The Big News. "Bill of the Session" Killed in Senate Committee:
We have been following several bills in the legislature that will have a heavy impact on business and individual pocketbooks. Regrettably, the “bill of the session” failed by a vote of 6 to 1 in the Senate Judiciary A committee on Tuesday
SB 154 - Sen. Rick Ward, III : This bill provides relative to certain civil liability damages and expands the prescription period from one to two years. It may be heard in the Senate this week. LABI opposes this bill.  
SB 214 - Sen. "Bodi" White : This bill streamlines local input and approval for ITEP. It will likely be heard in the Senate this week. LABI supports this bill.  
SB 223 - Sen. R. L. Bret Allain, II : This bill provides relative to state income taxation of Subchapter S corporations and other flow through entities. It may be heard in the Senate this week. LABI supports this bill.
DonahueFavret hit a sweet milestone on Saturday, celebrating its 40th Anniversary! On May 4, 1979, Jack Donahue opened his own company with two employees and a $500 acoustical ceiling job. Today, DonahueFavret Contractors has nearly 50 employees and an annual volume of $80-90 million.
In 2008, Jack was called to serve in the Louisiana senate. Yesterday a Senate proclamation was given in his honor prior to his farewell speech before fellow senators family and friends on the Senate floor. Citizens of his district and entire state are grateful for his remarkable service.

Louisiana Announces Record High Graduation Rates for Class of 2018: Yesterday, the Louisiana Department of Education released education outcomes for the Class of 2018 , including details about graduation rates, college and career credential attainment and TOPS eligibility. The graduation rate for Louisiana public high school students reached an all-time high at a rate of 81.4%, up from 78.2% in 2017.
