Pardon the Dust: Summer Work to Begin!

You may have seen the Measure M signs outside the schools, one of the markers that construction has begun as part of Early Impact Projects in the Measure M Bond Program. While students and staff enjoy summer break, teams will be hard at work upgrading outdoor spaces and prepping for longer-term projects that will break ground in 2027.

Early Impact Projects

Track & Field Construction Set to Begin in June

Exciting upgrades are coming to the San Marino High School Track & Field facility! Construction will begin immediately following graduation, and the track will be closed to the public throughout the summer as improvements are completed.

The renovated field will feature updated markings for both Boys' Football and Girls' Flag Football, along with the signature San Marino Titan branding that reflects the pride and tradition of our school community. We look forward to welcoming our athletes, students, and visitors back to a modernized facility when it reopens this fall.

Construction Begins for New Playgrounds

As the school year comes to a close, exciting improvements are set to begin at both Carver and Valentine Elementary Schools.

At Carver, a brand-new playground will be constructed in the area currently occupied by the tennis courts. Construction is scheduled to begin shortly after the 2025–2026 school year concludes.

At Valentine Elementary, the existing playground will be replaced with a modern new play structure. Both campuses will also receive shade structures designed to provide additional protection from the sun and create a more comfortable outdoor environment for students.

For the safety of our community, playground areas will be fenced off and inaccessible to the public throughout construction. The projects are expected to be completed before the start of the new school year, and we will continue to share updates through Measure M Alerts as work progresses.

Completed Projects

Concessions Stand Mural

Once the 2026–2027 fall sports season kicks off, the San Marino High School brand will be on full display with the addition of new murals on the concession stand. This milestone marks the completion of the entire concession facility improvement project, which also included renovations to both the men's and women's restrooms.

With these enhancements, student-athletes, families, and visitors will enjoy a more welcoming and modern game-day experience while celebrating the pride and tradition of Titan Athletics. We look forward to seeing our community gather and cheer on the Titans in these improved facilities for years to come.

Behind the Scenes

Through careful planning and responsible stewardship of Measure M bond funds, the Bond Program Team is successfully managing 18 projects concurrently. By strategically advancing projects through planning, design, and pre-construction, the District is delivering improvements efficiently while maintaining a strong commitment to financial stability and student success.

For the three major campus modernization projects—the construction of new buildings at Carver Elementary School, Valentine Elementary School, and San Marino High School—we have completed the Lease-Leaseback selection process and secured a general contractor. The Board of Education approved Balfour Beatty at its May 26, 2026, meeting and will partner with the District to deliver these transformative projects.

A list of all 18 projects and their associated costs, presented to the Board of Education at the public meeting on May 12, 2026, is below.

In addition to this ongoing work on the ground, Board President Francesca Gill and Board Member C. Joseph Chang continue to meet monthly with the Measure M team to review the program's progress. The Measure M Bond Oversight Committee also convenes every other month to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds, monitor expenditures, and report progress to the community.

The District also provides regular Measure M updates during its bi-monthly Board of Education meetings. These meetings can be viewed live via Zoom or watched later on the San Marino Unified School District YouTube channel.
