Join Us in Celebrating Security Team Member John Halva
John Halva first started working at Willis Tower, known at the time as Sears Tower, on September 19, 1977, coming from the Field Museum, where he had been a Security Office for the past two years. Making the move, he was in seventh heaven about the new opportunity to work at such an iconic building.
John quickly rose through the ranks from Franklin lobby greeter to Skydeck cashier (a position previously held by security officers), patrol office, assistant supervisor, supervisor, Life Safety Supervisor and has been the lead second shift Command Center Operator for the past seventeen years. During his time at the Tower, he has seen the many building changes, including renovations, new tenants, and a name change.
In his personal life, he is happily married with a son, daughter and three stepchildren. He enjoys gardening, playing the piano and organ, building model airplanes, enjoying the pool in his backyard and traveling to Florida, California and Cancun. After 44 years at Willis Tower, John is retiring this summer. Please join us in thanking John for all he has done for our neighborhood.
