We are delighted to share 12 days of stories highlighting each SJDL grade as our way of thanking families, teachers, staff and friends during this
wondrous Christmas season.
Enjoy!

1st Day of Christmas

Ho Ho Ho!
Mrs. Johnson's Preschool
Preschool (PS) Students are ready for a visit from Saint Nicholas!
Preschool made portraits of St. Nicholas and listened to a story about the first Santa Claus.
To celebrate the feast day of St. Nicholas, we each put one shoe outside the classroom door. St. Nicolas surprised the good students by treating us to a few pieces of candy in our
empty shoe.
Mrs. Cortez Pre-Kindergarten
Sharing special moments!
The Pre-Kindergarten at St. Jeanne's prides itself with honoring our Community Helpers. We invite our parents to share about what they do for our community. Mrs. Alves shared her responsibility as a farmer. She shared produce and the children were able to taste the fruits of her labor.
Mrs. Bartz is a wonderful volunteer in the Little Vineyard. She sits with students to complete an Our Father craft and is not only respected by the students but loved as well. She helps students with a variety of tasks on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Firefighter Damien Myers used his day off to visit our Little Vineyard and share the importance of fire safety. He taught the children how to Stop, Drop, and Roll as well as crawling out of a smoke filled home. He also dressed himself in full uniform to help alleviate children's fear of approaching a fire fighter during a fire. The children had the opportunity to put on the gear too!
The Little Vineyard appreciates the various cultures and traditions in our community. We invite the Fancy Shawl Dancers during Native American Heritage Month in November. The students enjoy watching the intricate dance steps and beautifully beaded regalia.
Mrs. Griffin Transitional Kindergarten
Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Transitional Kindergarten Students (TK), joyously prepare for the Christmas season!
The children explored the meaning of Advent and participated in creating their own Advent Wreaths to share the tradition of prayer at home with their families.
Students had so much fun artistically making their special Saint Nicolas (Santa) in their art class. The lesson was extended with a Christmas writing prompt about their Christmas wishes.
During science, students learned about different sources of light. Students analyzed the difference between transparent, translucent and opaque lighting. Students used various cups and lights to complete this hands-on science experiment.
