Blessings to you and your family!
This weekend, our country celebrates 250 years. Last month, on June, 12th, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus . Our Diocese and others from around the country have joined in consecrating our nation to the Sacred Heart.
When reflecting on the image of the Sacred Heart, three details are especially important to note. First, the Heart is wounded from Jesus being pierced on the cross. It is crucial that we do not miss this. Jesus did not come to take away our
suffering but to redeem it. His wounded heart is not a sign of weakness but a reminder of His love for us. Through our own wounds, may we love as He
loves.
Second, the Heart is crowned with thorns. It is through these instruments of torture that our redemption was won for us. When Jesus’ heart suffered on the cross, He entered into all of the pains humanity as a whole would ever endure.
Jesus desired to experience everything we do.
Third, the Heart is on fire. Jesus’ heart burns with love for you and for me.
Over the course of these celebrations marking 250 years, people across the country have been undertaking 250 hours of adoration, 250 hours of works of mercy, and much more. This weekend, let us reflect on how much our hearts burn with love for God and for our neighbor. With our nation consecrated to the Sacred Heart, may our lives follow.
May we imitate the Sacred Heart of Jesus!
God bless,
Anthony Nicolosi
