A TIP FROM POPE FRANCIS In Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis calls for “a better kind of politics, one truly at the service of the common good” (# 154). Essential to a better kind of politics is the sense of belonging to a “single human family.” After all, “we are all in the same boat” (#30). Instead of “the inclination to be concerned only with myself, my group, my own petty interests” (# 166) we have to commit to overcoming “every individualistic mindset” and instead “seek the good of all people” including those we may see as different from us (#182).

ST VINCENT DE PAUL thanks you We had a delightful visit with a retired man living on a small amount of fixed income. His positive outlook and warm personality stood out especially considering that he has lived with blindness the past few years. When a stranger found access to the man’s apartment, his rent money disappeared. Wanting to keep on top of his rent obligation, this neighbor called the St. Vincent de Paul Helpline (206-767-6449 or online .https://svdpseattle.org/get-help/online-help-request-form/). Thanks to your support, we gave rent assistance he needed. Information, Jo Ann Wiesner, 206-291-4012 or wiesnerjo@gmail.com.

We also pray that, as Church and as individuals, we can help prevent suicide by raising awareness and knowing how to help those in need. Archbishop Paul D. Etienne, celebrant.

SPONSOR SOMEONE IN RCIA Would you like to share the meaning of your Catholic faith with someone who is new to the Church? Does the thought of accompanying someone as they seek to become Catholic appeal to you? Could you introduce someone to Christian discipleship as lived at St. James?
