Santa Monica, CA
- January 19, 2016 - If the
21st Annual Santa Monica Sustainable Quality Awards
(SQA) was not already a fun enough ride, a boost from the Santa Monica Bike Center promises to get 35 bike riders into the awards ceremony for free. They are offering free admission to the first individuals pledging to cycle to the event, but that's not where the fun stops. The nominations for this year, all 48 of them, include many businesses representing several business sectors new to the awards program.
Would you expect a dance studio to win? How about a culinary school, or a swim school for individuals with special needs? The awards program serves to showcase the diversity of businesses, from small family-owned restaurants to large tech corporations, and encourage others to focus on more than the bottom-line.
"Santa Monica companies continue to lead the way in incorporating sustainability principles into their business practices. As Santa Monicans take bold steps toward water self-sufficiency and green building excellence, our diverse and creative business community stands proudly by to advance these priorities," said Laurel Rosen, president of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce.
SQA winners will be announced in March, then formally recognized at the
Annual Sustainable Quality Awards
event set for
April 21, 2016 at Le Meridien Delfina Hotel
in Santa Monica. The awards ceremony, lead sponsored by Morley Builders and LAcarGUY, showcases sustainable cuisine with the ever popular small bites networking reception featuring celebrated local chefs. This year's small bites businesses include LO/CAL Coffee and Market, FIG Restaurant and eLOVate Vegan Kitchen and Juicery, but there will be more, so stay tuned.
