Second Quarter Virtual Meeting Looks to the Summer and the Future

The second quarter TIME Task Force Board of Directors virtual meeting took place on May 22, 2024, and included a look at summer social media campaigns and the new technology coming to rail lines in the future.

May and June kicked off a range of social media campaigns for the TIME Task Force with summer construction leading the pack. The campaign is aimed at informing the public about the large amount of construction underway during the summer months and, specifically, to slow down and watch for workers. Other campaigns include the 511 Day event that celebrated the work of the Georgia 511 team as well as the Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO) and Coordinated Highway Assistance and Maintenance Program (CHAMP) operators who respond to highway incidents. In addition, the Click It or Ticket and National Heatstroke Prevention Day were also the focus of social media posts throughout the second quarter.

Along with the social media update, the meeting also featured two speakers, Kevin Groeneweg of Mobile Barriers and Ethan Weil of Parallel Systems. Kevin presented on his company’s barriers, which can be hauled by a tractor-trailer to an incident site to protect first responders and wrecker services from traveling motorists. Ethan talked to the Board about Parallel Systems Inc. and its work in converting trucking freight to rail freight through automated rail vehicles powered by electricity.

The next quarterly meeting will be in-person at the Jackson County Agricultural Facility in Jefferson, Georgia, on August 22. Learn more and register here.

National Police Week

On May 15, the TIME Task Force shared a post honoring National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which was part of National Police Week from May 13-17. This campaign provided an opportunity to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty and is a stark reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face daily. It is also a reminder to families that their loved ones are not forgotten but will forever be remembered for their sacrifice. We thank and recognize all TIME Task Force members who have made that sacrifice and all those currently serving our local communities.

TIME Task Force Members in the Community: HERO

Earlier this quarter, Cody Warren, a Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) HERO, participated with 511 Georgia at the Peachcrest Elementary School for their annual career day! He met students of all ages and told them what it's like to be a HERO.

Students were knowledgeable about calling 911 during an emergency, and thanks to the career day visit, they can now tell their parents and guardians to call 511 for travel assistance. One of their favorite parts was walking around the truck where they got to see all the life-saving tools used by HEROs. They also went inside the vehicle to get an awesome point-of-view of what Cody sees almost every day on metro Atlanta interstates. Towards the end, everyone held their ears when Cody turned on the siren!

Thank you, Cody, for representing the first responder community so well!

New TIME Task Force Committee Member

The TIME Task Force Programs Committee recently welcomed a new member: TJ Imberger, Director of Spalding County Public Works. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, TJ joined the Spalding County government in 1992 as the superintendent of parks. We are excited for the experience and knowledge TJ brings to the Programs Committee! Welcome, TJ!
