THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE 23RD ANNUAL CARMEL VALLEY RANCH CHARITY DAY A HUGE SUCCESS!

The response to the Carmel Valley Ranch 23rd Annual Charity Day was AMAZING! Over 120 golfers and tennis players enjoyed a beautiful summer day at CVR and raised over $60,000 for breast cancer patients in Monterey County. Your donation will assist in paying rent and utilities, buying food, gas, and paying for other critical living expenses.  With the added impact of COVID-19 job and wage losses, your generous support will help the most vulnerable at a most critical time.

As a supporter of BCAG we thought you might appreciate hearing from a recent recipient of a BCAG grant.  Just two months ago, Nikki, a local high school teacher with a young son was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer.  She has just completed two surgeries and is receiving daily radiation therapy for the next five to six weeks. Because of her treatment Nikki will forgo teaching summer school this year, an important source of extra annual income. After receiving a BCAG grant to help pay for rent and other critical living expenses, she wrote BCAG the following note:

“No one is ever prepared for a cancer diagnosis, but as a 32 year old single mother it was not something I could even fathom. When I got the call regarding my breast cancer diagnosis from my surgeon, I was in complete shock. Once my treatment started the concerns for my health began to be over shadowed by the fear of going into debt.                                      Help from BCAG could not have come at a more important time. Not only were they able to provide financial assistance, the BCAG volunteer I spoke with was a compassionate listener who never failed to call when she said she would. BCAG cares deeply about the people they help. I wasn’t just a list of questions and data; I was a unique person undergoing treatment for breast cancer. As someone who has never been in this situation (and never expected to at my age) I was in absolute awe of their compassion, kindness and support. About BCAG BCAG is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of breast cancer survivors who raise funds and awareness to improve the lives of local breast cancer patients and their families. BCAG provides basic living expenses grants (for food, rent, gas, utilities, etc.) that relieve some of the financial worry associated with breast cancer and allows women (and men) to focus on fighting their disease so they can again spend quality time with family and return to the local workforce. BCAG serves residents of Monterey County who are being treated by physicians located anywhere and residents of Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz counties who are being treated by Monterey County physicians.
