Jersey Mike's
Subs
Month of Giving
Raised $15, 210 for
Eblen Charities

"Giving... making a difference in someone's life"

Jersey Mike’s is an excellent example of a company combining purpose and profit. Since it was founded, Jersey Mike’s has lived by the ideology that businesses should give back to the communities where they work.
Jersey Mike’s Subs joined with its generous customers in March during the 9th Annual Month of Giving to raise a record amount of more than $7.3 million to help charities nationwide.
This is over $1 million more than was raised during last year’s campaign.
The campaign culminated on March 27 when 1,500 Jersey Mike’s restaurants donated 100 percent of sales, not just profits, to more than 200 different charities across the nation.

Eblen Charities was chosen to be the beneficiary for 2019. With the support of the community and the generosity of the Asheville area Jersey Mike’s owners, $15,210 was raised for Eblen Charities.
Local owner Patrick Dillingham says, "We chose Eblen for the wonderful work they do in the community. Eblen is who you think of when you think of local charities."

“I would like to thank our extraordinary customers, franchise owners, team members and charity partners who helped us raise the most ever during Jersey Mike’s 9th Annual Month of Giving in March,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “Our mission statement has always been focused on making a difference in people’s lives, and the record-setting amount raised this March will go a long way toward supporting the good work of our local partner charities.”
During the month of March, customers were invited to come in to their local Jersey Mike’s restaurant and make a donation to a local designated charity partner. Then on Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving,” 100 percent of the day’s sales were donated to each local charity partner.

“Giving… making a difference in someone’s life” has been the mission of Jersey Mike’s from the beginning. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised more than $41 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 2 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

Leadercast Asheville 2019

Record number of local students attend Leadercast Asheville

This year’s Leadercast, Leading Healthy Teams, simulcast presented by the Andrew Institute for Leadership and Public Service was held this past Friday at Lake Hills Church in Candler and was a huge success!  Special thanks to Pastor James Walker and the staff at Lake Hills Church, for opening up the church to us for this event.

We are grateful to our sponsors; Beverly Hanks and Associates, First Citizens Bank, Simply Home, Express Employment Professionals, Applied Solutions and the WNC Bridge Foundation, and to Chick-fil-A for an amazing job catering the lunch for the participants.

More than sixty students from Asheville City Schools, Buncombe and Henderson County Schools attended the all-day simulcast of Leadercast. The students who attended are the leaders in their schools, and the future leaders of their generation! They were invited to take in the knowledge of the presenters, some of the best in their respective fields, and then submit an essay for an opportunity to win a $500 scholarship sponsored by Express Employment Professionals and Eblen Charities Board member, Mr. Dewey Andrew.

Last year’s winner, Deanna Clark, a senior at Erwin High School, spoke to the students hoping to encourage them to write an essay. She plans to attend college to be a teacher!

And we would like to thank the emcee of the Leadercast Asheville, Victoria Dunkle for an amazing job!

Brad Johnson
Celebrity Golf Classic
Hosted by:
The Cliffs At Walnut Cove

The Brad Johnson Celebrity Golf Classic started with a simple idea for a small golf tournament and turned into an organization that helps thousands of families in need in western North Carolina each year. Since the first golf tournament, held at Reems Creek Golf Club in the spring of 1990, Eblen Charities has grown to become one of the largest helping agencies in our community.

This year we are celebrating our 30th tournament as Brad Johnson, quarterback of the Super Bowl XXXVII Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will again return home to the Brad Johnson Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit the work of Eblen Charities. We are honored once again to have our long-time friends and partners Wicked Weed Brewing as our title sponsor.
Thanks to Brad, the tournament has grown since its inception from a 20 team afternoon event to fielding more than 50 teams in morning and afternoon rounds.

This will be the 14th year The Cliffs at Walnut Cove will host the event, and bring Brad and a host of other celebrities and local partners to their championship course.
Through the combined efforts of more than 50 teams, dozens of sponsors, and more than 70 volunteers, the Wicked Weed / Brad Johnson Celebrity Golf Classic has not only grown to be one of the premier tournaments in western North Carolina, but it also brings the community together to reach out to those less fortunate by providing hope and direct assistance to those in times of need.
