9 am Parade Pre-show / 200 S Anaheim Blvd
·       Celebrity Meet & Greet 
·       10 am The Parade steps off on Anaheim Boulevard (featuring marching bands, floats, community units, dignitaries).
·       12 pm – 5pm  Unity Festival (Music Fest, Health Village, College Faire, Youth Village, Vendor Booths, Food  Court & Food Trucks, Custom Car & Motorcycle Show- 3 stages) 

Parade Route: Starts at Anaheim Blvd/Lincoln Avenue, marches south to Water Street and return to Anaheim City Hall.

Deemed “A family reunion” by R&B Sensation and the ’22 Grand Marshall Mr. Kenny Lattimore; and echoed by all that attended, the Orange County’s most celebrated event is back for its 43rd year!

The 43rd Annual Orange County Black History Parade & Unity Festival takes place on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 9 am - 5pm with great food, entertainment, vendors, celebrities, college fair, art contest and more!

Parade hosts Mr. Tyrone DuBose, Voice of Unsung, Best Selling Author (9th year) and Ms. Ashley Medina, Model (5th year)  return to announce and set the tone of the parade.

Time flies when you're having fun, and I know this upcoming parade will be the best one yet. I'm beyond thankful for the honor and can't wait to see everyone," Ashley Medina.

Being able to see the crowds, the love, but more importantly the dignity and respect of the community in Orange County welcoming such an important event is great beyond measure," Mr. Tyrone Dubose.
Produced by the Orange County Heritage Council (OCHC) under the leadership of OCHC President Dwayne Shipp, the goal for the annual event is to continue the traditions and culture of African Americans by honoring the achievements and contributions of black history. 

The ’22 OC Black History was celebrated with R&B sensation Mr. Kenny Lattimore, Famed Tae Bo Founders Mr. Billy Blanks, Fox Soul General Manager Mr. James Dubois, Gospel Artist Mr. Brent Jones, Grammy Nominee and R&B Artist Mr. Aloe Blacc, Vocalist and Pianist Mr. Francois Dean, Best Selling Author and Reality Star Omarosa, Actresses Layla Crawford and Daniele Lawson of hit movie “King Richard” and over 10,000 of family friendly community attendees.

2022 HIGHLIGHTS
ABOUT OCHC:
The Orange County Heritage Council (OCHC) is a 501 (c) 3 organization, consisting of a group of dedicated community volunteers focused on the Black community and development of events and activities that promote positive family and cultural interaction.

Community businesses, organizations, churches, and philanthropists are encouraged to support the events offered by the OCHC, because the organization is a community sponsored endeavor.
The primary events organized and offered to the whole community are the Black History Parade & Unity Festival and the OC Juneteenth Celebration.

The OC Black History Parade & Unity Festival is always held the 1st Saturday in February, which has been designated nationally as Black History Month. The event is currently held in Anaheim, California rain or shine beginning at 9AM and ending at 5 PM.

Members of the community regardless of race, color, ethnicity or culture are invited to the event to enjoy a well-attended parade which includes noted community members, elected officials, community groups, school and church units, singing and dancing units, city service vehicles, and community members who have participated in the history of Orange County and surrounding areas.

Immediately following the Black History Parade is a Unity Festival (previously known as the Cultural Faire) offering interactive lessons on black history in the Youth Village, live music and dance entertainment, business connections and information, health information and screenings, activities for young people, college fair, food booths run by community groups and food trucks from local restaurants, and an art exhibition.

The Orange County Black History Parade and Unity Festival is organized by the Orange County Heritage Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization focused on commemoration of African American contributions to the strength of Orange County, California.

For 42 years, OCHC has had support from talent participation to include:  Dr. Martin Luther King Daughter Yolanda King, Mabel King from the sitcom “What’s Happening”, Willard E. Pugh from “Color Purple”, Comedian Robbin Harris, Jazz great Barbara Morrison, R&B legend Jon B, actress LisaRaye, actor Todd Bridges, reality star Misster Ray, News Cast Beverly White, NBC Los Angeles, Christine Devine KTTV Fox 11, Leslie Sykes ABC7, Raquel Harper from TMZ, Jasmine Brand of The Jasmine Brand entertainment blog, Boxer great Ken Norton, to name a few. 

The OC Black History Parade and Unity Festival began from founder the late Helen Shipp.  Today, her son Dwayne Shipp is keeping the legacy alive as President of OCHC.
