Its the 75th Ski Season at Mt Ashwabay

Executive Director's Update

Hello Ashwabay Community,

This is a very big year for Ashwabay. We are celebrating our 75th anniversary ski season! 1948 was the first season that people skied here. I would really like to travel back in time to see what that was like. When you think about it, we are really still doing the same thing, the thrill of sliding down the hill on something very slippery. Its not complicated. Getting outside and active in the winter is so important.

So many of us grew up skiing at this ski area. Can you imagine what your winters would have been like without Ashwabay? Don’t worry, we are not going anywhere! In fact Ashwabay is doing better than ever! We are going into this 75th season after a summer of record sales in our café and bar. We are honestly looking forward to winter and are getting equipment and trails prepared.

We intend to celebrate this 75th season and want you to join us. We are going to have parties, celebrations, and acknowledgements of an amazing 75 yrs. We are going to dig deep in our Ashwabay community and history and find as many old photos and stories as we can. Join us on our social media

platforms to see all the good stuff.

In honor of our 75th season we are setting a fundraising goal of $75,000. The money raised this year will go to providing high quality youth programs and improvements such as lighting for night skiing, a Nordic center, kitchen improvements, upgrading power for more efficient snow making.  Who knows, if we raise enough money, we might even be able to improve what looks to be 75 yr old bathrooms! Join us in celebrating and fundraising.

We are seeing an increase in youth programs participation as we watch youngsters become life long winter sports enthusiasts.  Through donations and sponsorships we can continue to reachout the the area youth and grow our programing to be able to reach all levels abilities.  ”Get em off the couch is one of our mantras”.

We look forward to seeing you out here again this season. I honestly can’t wait for us to load that first chair! Thank you for all of the support in the past and your ongoing support in the future.
