Outback
Steakhouse
Bloomin' Helpful Hosts for Nearly Two Decades!

Outback Steakhouse has been a long time partner and supporter of Eblen Charities and the Eblen Charities Walk, Run or Roll, and the Pumpkins and Booster Campaigns. We are thankful to Outback for hosting the Walk Kick-Off Luncheon, as well as the BOOsters and Pumpkins Kick-Off Luncheons three weeks in a row this month. Outback has been opening their doors to host these luncheons for nearly twenty years, their staff donate their time and Outback donates the delicious meal, giving Eblen an opportunity to thank the schools, businesses, volunteers and staff who help make the Walk, Pumpkins and BOOsters the success it is.

"Outback Steakhouse is proud to support Eblen Charities year after year. We enjoy the ability to take care of the people who take care of the most vulnerable in our community. It is our goal to be a valued member of our community and our partnership with Eblen Charities is the best way to do that in Asheville." - Leah Hooper, Managing Partner, Outback Asheville

19th Annual
Walk, Run or Roll
5k/10k

We want YOU to join us, Saturday, October 12th, for the 19th Annual Eblen Charities Walk, Run, or Roll 5K/10K, held on the campus of A-B Tech. The Walk, Run, and Roll is a non-competitive and family friendly 5k (three miles) or 10k (six miles) around the beautiful campus of our community college, beginning at 9:00 am and finishing around noon with lunch from Outback.

The Walk raises money to help children, adults, and families in our community in their time of need. This is a great chance to put on your walking shoes, get your family, friends and co-workers together for a fun community event.

Last year, nearly 700 walkers participated in raising more than $28,000 to assist local students in our schools and families in our community with medication, food, heat, rent and shoes and clothing and other emergency aid. It’s only a $20 minimum donation, which can be raised by getting friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to sponsor you.  We encourage you to raise more, as every dollar helps!

The Walk is a very important event for us every year and is even more so this year, as the need for help continues to grow. What makes the Walk so special is that you get to see how many people come out to support the community and feel the love for the kids in our local schools and families in our community, and you can see your kindness in action! Plus, there will be music, fun, prizes, kids zone and more!

Community businesses have been very generous to donate prizes for our four prize baskets; Sports Fan Fun Basket, Family Fun Basket, Date Night Basket and Teacher Basket. Your team has a chance to win one of these four baskets by raising the most money for the Walk. We will also be raffling off a great prize!

All participants donating a minimum of $20 will receive a Walk, Run, and Roll t-Shirt. Register by October 1st to guarantee your t-shirt size. We will hold a t-shirt pick up at the Eblen Charities office, Thursday, October 10th from 12-5pm and Friday, October 11th from 12-6pm.

Our special thanks go out to our sponsors this year:

BOOsters / Pumpkins Arrive

It wouldn’t be October in western North Carolina without the Eblen BOOsters and Pumpkins popping up in Ingle’s Markets, local schools, area banks, credit unions, dry cleaners, restaurants, and other local businesses. Each colorful pumpkin or friendly ghost sells for a dollar and not only adds to the Halloween decor of participating businesses and schools but brightens up the lives of so many families each year who receive assistance from the numerous programs of Eblen Charities.

Never in the history of the Eblen Charities has one dollar been as important or had as much impact on the lives of the families we serve as it does this year. So when you are out, pick one up and make this Halloween and the rest of the year less scary for those in times of need.

Look for Pumpkins at local Ingles Markets October 1st –October 15th and in all Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools the whole month of October.
