A Message from the
Chief Executive Officer
Happy August to the ABC Family and Supporters,
Dear ABC Recovery Center Community,
Happy Summer to all! Here we are again with our next newsletter.
I am happy to report we were able to secure funding for our new facility. The Department of Healthcare Services and the State of California awarded us $27 million dollars as you may have seen on social media or the news. This represents the largest award our organization has ever received and is going to allow us to design a modern facility from the ground up.
We have a development team already in place and are beginning the initial design and civil engineering. It is difficult to anticipate how long it will take to complete the project. The total square footage will be over 44,000 sq ft. Projects of this type generally take years to complete. Look for more news related to this project moving forward, as we are planning a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the occasion. We are very excited about this development as it positions ABC for the future and ensures our modernized facilities will serve our community for many years to come.
Next year will be ABC’s 60th anniversary. That is a long time! We have various ideas on how to commemorate this achievement and are working on multiple things already. We will be having a gathering where the community will be invited. We will get the details out to you as soon as we have all them hammered out.
As always, I want to take the opportunity to thank our community for the support we receive year after year. It is a wild time in our country and around the world. Our organization is always here to lend support to anyone who needs help, that is the way it has always been and the way it always will be.
Hope to see all of you soon. Stay cool out there.
With Sincerity,
Chris Yingling, CEO

September is International Recovery Month. ABC Recovery Center recognizes our important work and celebrates all those who are in recovery during this annual month-long event. We are looking forward to taking part in Riverside County's dedicated event on October 13th in conjunction with the Riverside University Health System. ABC Recovery Center will have a booth at the event, and we will be inviting our clients to take part in the event's festivities. Additionally, each of our residential treatment houses will be making their own banner and participating in the banner contest at the event.
We are united with one purpose:
RECOVERY KNOWS NO LIMITATIONS, NO BORDERS AND NO BOUNDARIES.
There is also an international celebration of recovery which anyone can be a part of. Please see below for information on how you can participate.

ABC Recovery Center has a team of folks who care deeply about helping our clients reach and maintain their sobriety. Counselors demonstrate expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for substance use treatment including: case management, development of client support systems, the design and implementation of each personalized treatment plan, and crisis interventions. The counselors collaborate with the client's entire treatment team to plan and coordinate the client’s care.
Each newsletter is going to share a bit about this team and what they have been doing to care for ABC's clients and families.

As the number of Covid-19 cases increase in the community, I have noticed a shift in the culture. I admire the way the counselors and team came together to assist each other. This reminds me of the “There is a solution” chapter, in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous “there exists among us a fellowship, a friendliness and understanding which is indescribable wonderful”. As it talks about the feeling of connectedness, like the survivors of a shipwreck it also stated, “ The feeling of having shared in a common peril, is one element of the powerful cement which binds us”. This is not easy. A lot of people are Covid-19 weary, and this can also bring up thoughts like “here we go again” and “am I going to get sick or impact my loved ones”. We really appreciate the counselors who are on the front lines. Treating the epidemic of substance use disorders, in the middle of a pandemic, Covid-19 is challenging. The whole team has come together to support each out. Kudos to the nursing staff, housekeeping and the technicians who have come together to support each other.

Every month, the ABC Recovery Center team identifies our Rock Stars. This is a peer designation which makes it even more special. Rock Stars are member of our staff who are going above and beyond the expectations of their positions. They are making our mission happen and are integral to the important changes we are helping our clients make in their lives.
Monthly, staff are included in the request to nominate a Rock Star. They are asked what inspired them to nominate their peer and are provided six criteria to select from that apply to their nominee. The survey is tabulated, and the winners are announced by Human Resources.
Our May Rock Star is Sara Smith. Sara is one of our newest Behavioral Health Technicians and is already shining bright! The employees that voted for Sara shared:
"Sara goes above and beyond her job."
"I have been able to observe how well she handles the clients. I am just amazed at how well she presents herself in the center of it all."
Sara shares, “My experience here at ABC has been far from just a day-to-day job for me. It has been ultimately fulfilling and rewarding being able to give someone a second chance at life and being able to support them on a daily bases.”

Our June Rock Star was Jorge Reyes. Jorge is part of ABC's janitorial staff. The employees that voted for Jorge shared:
"He keeps us clean and safe"
"Jorge is a team player!"
Jorge has been a member of ABC for 12 years. His reason for staying so long, "This company does not feel like a business, but a family. The people around me are not just coworkers but an extension of my intermediate family, like brothers and sisters." "Even though my job title says janitor, I feel that it has gone beyond that. The best part of my job is knowing that my story of triumphs could help others succeed in their battle with drug addiction."
Says Brock Jenikovsky, Jorge's supervisor, "as for my experience with Jorge, he is one of the most exceptional employees we have! He has an amazing work ethic, he is the definition of consistent, but most importantly he does it all with an unwavering positive attitude. Jorge is a pleasure to work with and he leaves a warm impression with anyone he comes in contact with."

Our July Rock Star is Bryan Williams. Bryan started at ABC in May 2016 and has over 10 years working in the field.
Bryan Williams started his journey at ABC Recovery Center in May 2016 and has over 10 years working in the field. Bryan was in the Air Force from 2004 to 2008 and then worked as an IT tech. He decided that he wanted to get out from behind the computers and work with people. He completed his Master of Social Work degree at University of Southern California.
Bryan shared that he likes working with people and helping to guide on the journey of self-healing and personal change. Bryan said that being in the field has allowed him to see life from different perspectives. He’s grateful to be able to be a part of client’s journeys and he has developed more compassion for humanity. WITH GREAT APPRECIATION TO ABC RECOVERY CENTER'S TEAM
We are preparing for upcoming audits, specifically our CARF accreditation and Riverside County audit. To that end, our staff have trainings that need to be completed so that we meet compliance requirements. This means that management is often faced with the challenges regarding coordinating trainings and rescheduling or adjusting shifts to get adequate coverage for those that need to complete any trainings. We very much appreciate your understanding and your cooperation by completing any trainings or submitting any documentation needed for this process, and for supporting the team during the coverage adjustments. The level of cooperation and dedication you all provide to the ABC team is greatly appreciated. You guys are awesome!

We welcome them without judgment and provide an individually tailored holistic and multi-disciplinary team approach that has successfully helped many others overcome their battle with substance use disorders. ABC is Licensed by the State Department of Health Care Services, as well as being accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
ABC Recovery Center offers a full continuum of services for those who have made the decision to make significant changes to their lives. We offer the following programs: Detoxification (Detox), Residential Treatment, Intensive Outpatient Program, Outpatient Program, and our Transitional and Sober Living Programs. We also provide a family program, perinatal services, and specialized groups for LGBTQIA constituents.

ABC Recovery Center's Core Values
|
|
An organizational culture and delivery of service promoting the belief that no one life is more important than another. We value every person, every client as an individual and respect their journey providing dignity, and empathy to everyone seen and served.
Those who are like-minded and adhere to the science that addiction is a disease and those challenged with this disease deserve compassion, encouragement and every opportunity in attaining a new beginning.
Our work towards an organizational future when we will have the capacity to open our doors to anyone who will need our services without concern for compensation.
The search for and incorporation of leading therapies, treatments, and care models that provide our clients the greatest opportunity for successful sobriety.
The unlimited courage of our clients who seek treatment, for their life-affirming decision to say, “no more” and taking difficult steps that will be life-changing.
All those who encourage and support our clients and help shepherd them on their life-long journey, as we extend our care by incorporating family members whenever possible.
The time, education, training, effort and sacrifice of the employees at ABC Recovery Center, as they administer care to those we serve, often under difficult circumstances. Each one serving ethically and bench-marking our industry’s highest standards.
The fostering of teamwork and the creation of a culture that encourages collaboration rather than competition. Everyone on our team is an integral cog in the wheel, in support of our client's recovery.
The support of our donor community, whose contributions we steward with the utmost care.
The legacy of all clients served and how their journey further affirms our dedication and informs our service.
