About the Program

Are you an attorney advising a client recently appointed as a trustee for a special needs trust? Is your client wondering if he or she has the knowledge or ability to serve in this role?

Or maybe your client is a parent, caregiver and/or conservator drafting an estate plan and wondering whether to include a special needs trust and who to appoint as trustee?

Join special needs attorney and advocate Annette Hines to learn the basics of administering a special needs trust. She will address topics including:

·     Investment Allocations,

·     Taxation of Special Needs Trusts,

·     Working with Beneficiaries,

·     Avoiding Problems with Social Security and other Public Benefits, and

·     What to Do If Things Go Wrong!

Gain insight on how to advise your clients on administering special needs trusts and gain clarity about how they are created, what types of assets can be placed in them, how they are managed, who manages them and other important considerations for those serving in the role as trustee.

This program is presented by the Elder Law section, chaired by Terry M. Magady. Find out more about the sections at www.bhba.org.
