CCEP Travel Awards for PEARC End June 10


With the PEARC24 Conference quickly approaching, ACCESS Support wants to be sure the community is aware that the deadline for requesting PEARC travel awards through the CSSN Community Engagement Program (CCEP) is June 10. Please submit your requests on our CCEP web page. We look forward to your submissions!


MATCH Plus Project Seeks Mentor


The Support team is excited to announce a MATCH Plus project that is looking for a mentor. This is a six-month engagement starting in the fall of this year. The mentor will receive a $3,000 stipend for their work through the CSSN Community Engagement Program. PEARC24 Promo Opportunity


Are you planning to attend PEARC24 this July? ACCESS can help promote your BoF or other PEARC24 presentation. If you're an ACCESS staff member, Resource Provider, or community member utilizing ACCESS resources, send information about your session to communications@access-ci.org by June 24 and we'll include it in our news stories and social media PEARC24 promotions. Be sure to include the title, day and time, location and a brief description of what attendees should expect. PEARC24 takes place July 21–25 in Providence, RI.

Maximize ACCESS Window Opening Soon


Don’t miss your chance to apply for a Maximize ACCESS project! The Maximize ACCESS request window will be open June 15 through July 31. To prepare, the Allocations team invites researchers with large-scale resource needs to join a webinar called "Writing and Submitting an ACCESS Maximize Proposal,” on either of the following dates (registration is required):


Researchers can also visit the Prepare Requests page to watch helpful how-to videos on crafting a successful request. Once the window opens, researchers can submit a request here. Award notifications will be sent in mid-September and awards will begin or renew on October 1. Researchers who need an extension or supplement until the October 1 award date, or those who have existing large-scale XSEDE Research or earlier Maximize ACCESS allocations, should contact the Allocations team via our ticketing system to determine the best option for aligning their projects with the semi-annual schedule. In addition to the June/July request window, a submission window for Maximize ACCESS proposals will be open from Dec. 15, 2024 to Jan. 31, 2025, with awards starting April 1, 2025.

Trainings Held for STEP Students


ACCESS Operations concluded its inaugural cohort of the Student Training and Engagement Program this spring. The program's goal is to help build interest among students in careers in cyberinfrastructure. Read about the experiences of our two STEP-3 interns here.


Calling For Mentors: Make a Difference for ACCESS STEP students! 


Are you passionate about empowering the next generation of students? Do you have expertise in your field and a desire to guide and inspire? Look no further! The ACCESS Student Training and Engagement Program (STEP) is seeking dedicated mentors like you. 


As a mentor, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Share your wisdom: Pass on your knowledge, skills and experiences to motivated students.
  • Shape futures: Help students navigate their academic and professional journeys.
  • Experience personal growth: As a mentor, you can enhance your leadership and communication skills.
  • Earn a stipend: You'll earn a $300 stipend for mentoring a student.


What you'll need to do:

  • Attend Mentor Orientation to learn about program goals, expectations and best practices.
  • Stay connected with your mentee and provide guidance, including two meetings in June and two meetings in July.
  • Meet your mentee. If you're attending PEARC24, the students will be attending and this will be a great chance to meet in person.
