ACCESS Allocations News

NEW: Interactive Map of Allocations

The ACCESS Allocations team recently released an interactive map of allocations, exchanges and resource usage since the start of the ACCESS program in September 2022. Values in the map are displayed in ACCESS Credits, or ACCESS Credit equivalents for Maximize ACCESS requests and usage. Tour the Allocations map for a more in-depth view of where researchers are utilizing ACCESS resources.

ACCESS Allocations Puts a Focus on DEI

To help democratize ACCESS for new communities and for projects with modest resource requirements, the ACCESS Allocations team has implemented a new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Plan. Their goal is to make sure it's clear that ACCESS resources are ready to serve a diverse community of researchers, each with different cyberinfrastructure needs.

ACCESS Support News

Subscribe to Events, Trainings and Announcements in the Weekly Support Digest Newsletter

The ACCESS Support team has been working on a weekly digest to provide you with the latest events, trainings and announcements. If you would like to ensure that you receive updates on all future ACCESS training events and other announcements, including exclusive content, please join the ACCESS Support Affinity Group. Have something you would like to broadcast in our weekly newsletter? Post your announcement or event on the ACCESS Support portal.

CSSN Community Engagement Program

ACCESS Support would like to thank the community for the overwhelming response to our pilot CSSN Community Engagement Program (CCEP). The committee positions are filled, but we have more travel support for Knowledge Base contributions adding information resources or contributing on Ask.CI. We are happy to work with you 1:1 for questions about your submissions or visit your lab, staff meeting or faculty gathering to share this opportunity. Please email Alana Romanella for your presentation needs.

Connect with Others through an Affinity Group

Care about a research topic or HPC tool, or do you just want to chat with the community? Join an Affinity Group to get updates about things you care about or request a new one! If you have an allocation, you will automatically become a member of Affinity Groups associated with your allocations.

ACCESS Operations News

Encourage Students Interested in Careers in Cyberinfrastructure to Apply for Student Training and Engagement Program (STEP)

The ACCESS Operations Student Training and Engagement Program (STEP) will function as a three-phase program intended for undergraduates or early-career graduate students interested in pursuing careers in cyberinfrastructure. The first phase, STEP-1, is a two-week, in-person experience in Miami, May 15-27. It’s open to all, including younger students with less experience. Students who complete STEP-1, have at least 60 credit hours under their belts, and want to advance further toward a career in cyberinfrastructure can then move on to the second phase of the program, STEP-2, which is a full-time, paid summer internship. The third and final phase of the program, STEP-3, is for those looking for a year-round, part-time, paid internship experience. The deadline to apply is March 15.

Safe, Secure and State-of-the-Art

With a new program comes the impetus to try new things. As a new NSF-funded program, ACCESS is striving to change the research computing landscape in many ways, one being cybersecurity. ACCESS has built upon the identity and access management system previously used by XSEDE, creating a modernized login experience that is both more user-friendly and secure.
