Updated Requirements for International Collaborators

ACCESS continues to welcome and encourage international collaboration. However, there are updated requirements regarding such collaborators participating in allocated projects on NSF-funded infrastructure. For this policy, an international collaborator is any person not affiliated with a U.S.-based institution. If you're a current ACCESS PI or intend to request a project including an international collaborator, during the allocation process, you'll be prompted to enter the name, affiliation and justification for each of those collaborators. If a co-PI or Allocation Manager submits the request form, the PI must submit the justification for each international collaborator. Note that individual Resource Providers may impose further restrictions on international collaborators. Given these additional verification layers, we recommend factoring them into your planning to avoid delays in getting your collaborators onto resources. Program Year 4 Highlights Book Hits the Shelves

As has been our custom, the ACCESS Communications team prepared the annual review of achievements in time to debut at the PEARC Conference, held this year in Minneapolis, July 26-30. Featuring quotes from researchers, educators and students, quick facts and stories of science enabled by ACCESS, you'll want to bookmark the Program Year 4 highlights book (and be sure to share!).

On the Road Again with ACCESS STEP Students

A signature element of the ACCESS Operations Student Training and Engagement Program summer internship (STEP-2) is the CI Road Trip, which provides students with behind-the-scenes access to three major ACCESS resource provider facilities. This year, those were the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, home to Delta and Delta-AI; Jetstream2 at Indiana University; and Anvil and Anvil-AI at Purdue University. The road trip allows students to observe how production cyberinfrastructure systems are designed, operated and supported at scale while interacting directly with the research computing professionals responsible for these nationally significant resources. By comparing multiple CI environments, participants gain a broader understanding of the diverse architectures, operational models and user support strategies that underpin the ACCESS ecosystem. These immersive site visits reinforced the workshop curriculum by connecting technical concepts to real-world facilities and illustrating how advanced cyberinfrastructure enables research across scientific disciplines.
