REGISTRATION OPEN SOON
Using Technology to Improve Social Justice

Building on CWAG's Cyber Security efforts, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas' Chair's Initiative will bring together leaders from the corporate, nonprofit and government sectors to discuss utilizing technology to strengthen our economy and improve public safety outcomes. 

Through this initiative, state attorneys general will jointly address cyber security as one of the greatest threats to our nation. Expanded collaboration among leading privacy and security researchers, academics, industry representatives, consumer advocates, law enforcement and government entities will address and offer mutual solutions for national and international cyber security concerns.
 
Initiative themes will include:
  • Protecting Children, Families and Consumers
  • Protecting Personal Data Privacy
  • Protecting Against Human Trafficking

Baltimore Woman Sentenced to Five Years in Connection with Retail Theft Conspiracy
July 25, 2019

Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh announced that Lisa M. Williams, 55, was sentenced for her role in a widespread retail theft conspiracy. The Honorable Yolanda Tanner of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City sentenced Williams to five years’ imprisonment for Conspiracy to Commit a Theft Scheme of $100,000 or more.

American Committing Fraud to Lower Student Loan Payments? Taxpayers Could Bear Cost

As student . loan debt totals continue to climb across the country, some Americans might be lying in order to lower their monthly payments, new data shows.

According to a report released by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), a large number of borrowers with income-driven repayment (IDR) plans appeared to be claiming they were not making an income – despite earning enough to likely make their monthly student loan payments.

Judge Rejects Opioid Distributors' Request to Dismiss AG Ferguson's Lawsuit

A King County Superior Court judge today rejected an attempt by three multi-billion dollar opioid distributors to dismiss Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s lawsuit seeking to hold the companies accountable for their role in fueling the nation’s opioid epidemic.

Florida Attorney General Moody Encourages an Increase in Law Enforcement Mentorships

Attorney General Ashley Moody today announced a joint partnership with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and Big Brothers Big Sisters to encourage law enforcement to join the Bigs in Blue mentorship program. Attorney General Moody, FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen and FLHSMV Executive Director Terry Rhodes each sent a memo to their respective agencies encouraging staff to participate in the Bigs in Blue program by spending an hour a week mentoring at-risk kids and teens using an existing state administrative leave policy.
