Utah Attorney General Reyes: The T-Mobile/Sprint Merger Will Benefit Rural Utah
August 9, 2019

Utah Attorney General Sean D. Reyes released the following statement regarding the proposed merger of T-Mobile and Sprint:

“I continue to strongly support the T-Mobile/Sprint merger. Since the companies first announced this combination, they have made a compelling case that it will substantially increase competition in the wireless marketplace, accelerate rural broadband deployment, and boost American 5G leadership—resulting in better quality at lower prices, expanded access to the digital economy for underserved Americans, and greater technological competitiveness with China, among other benefits..."
Oregon Attorney General Rosenblum Joins Lawsuit to Block T-Mobile and Sprint Megamerger
August 12, 2019

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced that Oregon will join the multistate lawsuit blocking the anticompetitive megamerger of telecommunications giants T-Mobile and Sprint. T-Mobile US Inc. and Sprint Corporation are the third and fourth largest mobile wireless networks in the U.S., and are the lower-cost carriers among the “Big Four”, including Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Intense competition, spurred by T-Mobile and Sprint, has meant declining prices, increased coverage, and better quality for all mobile phone subscribers.

CWAG Annual Meeting 2019 Credit Crunch Panel: Where You Went to College May Matter on Your Loan Application
The Wall Street Journal
August 8, 2019

Such efforts seek to address mounting criticism of an existing credit-evaluation system that relies on past loan-repayment history but also raises questions about fairness and accessibility to credit.

Several bills have been introduced in the House of Representatives this year by lawmakers from both parties to improve the credit-scoring system. Last month, a bipartisan House financial-technology task force held a hearing on the use of alternative data.
