Oklahoma Attorney General Hunter Joins Call for Illicit Fentanyl to Remain a Schedule I Drug

Attorney General Mike Hunter sent a letter to Congress, asking members to take quick action on legislation that would permanently classify illicitly manufactured fentanyl and related substances as Schedule I drugs.

The legislation, known as the Federal Initiative to Guarantee Health by Targeting (FIGHT) Fentanyl Act, would codify the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) 2018 temporary order that is set to expire in February. The FIGHT Fentanyl Act would ensure law enforcement agencies and the courts have the tools needed to keep those who traffic this deadly substance off the streets.

Attorneys general from every state, territory and the District of Columbia signed the letter.
Washington Attorney General Ferguson: CenturyLink Will Pay $6.1 million Over Hidden Fees Affecting 650,000 Washingtonians

Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced the first major action of his office’s Honest Fees Initiative. Global technology company CenturyLink will pay $6.1 million to the State of Washington according to a court order to resolve the Attorney General’s lawsuit regarding a range of unfair and deceptive conduct. CenturyLink added additional charges to customer bills without accurately disclosing those fees, impacting 650,000 Washingtonians. CenturyLink also failed to provide discounts that their sales agents had promised to about 16,000 Washingtonians.

Utah Gets an ‘A’ for Fighting Child Sex Trafficking

The State of Utah is now ranked among the top in the nation for its dedication to the fight against minor sex trafficking, according to Shared Hope International. See Utah’s report card here.  

In its yearly rankings, Utah received an ‘A’ for its dedication and strength of the state’s laws related to the commercial sexual exploitation of children. In 2011, Utah received an ‘F’. The amount of progress is due to many factors and dedicated partners, including the tireless efforts of Utah Attorney General Sean D. Reyes, the Attorney General SECURE Strike Force, the ICAC Task Force, the UTIP Task Force, legislation passed by the Utah Legislature and the dedication and commitment of the Governor’s office.
