March 2020
Now is when we need community the most.
With the novel coronavirus now declared a global pandemic and many communities around the world observing quarantine, we recognize the real-time importance of community empowerment and building bridges. We want our communities to know they can always turn to us as a platform to exchange ideas, express concerns, and seek solutions.

We Are APF
Meet Omar Ilyas
APF Leadership Council
Omar Ilyas graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a degree in Public Health and was a 2019 APF Fellow.
Omar is deeply committed to addressing social inequities on a global scale. As a college student, he worked on programs to resettle refugees; volunteered in free health clinics in Detroit; and provided digital literacy skills to formerly incarcerated individuals.

Omar helped create Paani, a non-profit group focused on alleviating Pakistan’s water crisis. Today, Paani is running a campaign to provide food at at least a month to the most vulnerable Pakistanis affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

31% of families in rural Pakistan live below the poverty line and many rely on daily wages to feed their families. Through its relief campaign, Paani's efforts will feed up to 1600 people for at least one month.
Together, we will empower communities and build bridges.
Your donation will expand APF’s reach, programming, and impact in the United States and in Pakistan.
