Rising Stars 2024

Nominations for Rising Stars 2024 will be live soon! Here is what you need to know about the Rising Stars Program.

There are innumerable people of our community who have served the world and the country in instrumental ways. The APF Rising Stars initiative was conceived by APF board member Anna Khan, to recognize our community's hidden gems. This list celebrates the women of our community from a variety of fields – academia, media, tech, medicine, who have contributed in instrumental ways to the world around them. We are here to recognize their work.

In recognizing the professional and personal commitments and exemplary leadership of Pakistani American women, we aim to celebrate the many ways they rise to the occasion to excel in their professional and personal pursuits, empower others, and give back to their communities.

Criteria for selection

APF Rising Stars are leaders who:

  • foster dialogue and take action related to building bridges, empowering communities, and opening minds;
  • cultivate unity and diversity;
  • build spaces to explore and engage with our cultural heritage;
  • value and respect diversity of opinion by engaging in productive dialogue and constructive criticism; and
  • have achieved extraordinary professional milestones

Look out for more details in the coming weeks about how to nominate your Rising Star this star cycle.

Launching APF UN Fellows Program

In June 2019, APF received Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Council (ECOSOC), enabling it to engage the international community at the United Nations on policies and initiatives related to APF’s focus on Pakistan.

Next year we are launching our first-ever United Nations fellowship program; a six-month long opportunity to get exposure to the inner workings of the UN Economic and Social Council, attend UN meetings both in-person and virtually, and conduct in-depth research on topics pertaining to the SDGs and how they affect the American-Pakistani diaspora. Be on the lookout for the fellowship application in the upcoming weeks!

The day Osman Salahuddin turned 27 was also the day he launched his political campaign. He announced his candidacy to run for City Council in Redmond, a city on America’s west coast where he grew up.

The city of Redmond, located 15 miles east of Seattle with a population around 80,000, prides itself on its diversity and as a centre of technology – it is home to Microsoft, Nintendo, and AT&T, among other well-known companies.
