What a Labor Day Weekend we had. Friday evening at Styr was packed with celebratory members, guests & family, all rejoicing the end of summer in Addison style. The music and dancing went on throughout the evening. Also, our poolside barbecue, which went on Saturday, Sunday and Monday was well attended and enjoyed by many members and their families. Sunday evening was our Labor Day Barbecue at our clubhouse. 175 members and guests enjoyed an all American dinner of hamburgers, frankfurter's and ribs. What's more American than that? Oh yes, apple pie was also served.
Monday was our Labor Day Golf Tournament. The weather was threatening but that didn't stop our all American spirits. 62 golfers went out and played a very competitive scramble tournament. Flight #1 winners were Jeff & Laura Krauss and Len & Shelley Kaufman, a favored team with 2 former club champions. Flight #2 winners were Eric & Jane Sharenow and Perry & Susan Weinraub. Congratulations to all the winners.
Also on Monday, we had our annual Labor Day Round Robin Tennis Tournament. 40 of our best and most enthusiastic tennis players tested their skills on the courts of Addison Reserve. The weather held up so that the entire tournament was completed and enjoyed by all. What a great day of tennis they had.
By this time almost everyone is aware of the fire that occurred in one of our premier homes in The Isla Verde neighborhood at 3:00 AM Friday morning. The destruction was unbelievable but thank god, nobody was hurt, the residents got out in time. The fire marshals believe that the fire started in the garage, possibly from the charging golf cart, but it is still under investigation. If that's the case, this is the second such fire that has occurred in that manor here in Addison. It has been suggested, we disconnect the chargers at night once the charge has been completed.
We
now have a New Travel Section, so when you are traveling or when you return from a great trip, drop us a line or two and include a snapshot of you there!
Larry & Cherie Gross traveled to Gilford, NH for their daughter Cindy's wedding. The nuptials took place on Lake Winnepesaukee, the site where the couple resides.
Herschel & Robin Podgur continue their month long cruise through Athens; Mykonos; Crete and on.....Return safely!
Horace & Patti Cohen along with daughter Lisa, are now traveling through the Hong Kong Harbour and then into China for their vacation. Wow that sounds like fun!
Marie & Vito Lupo visited Nashville Tennessee with their family. They dropped in on the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and say the Grand Old Opry.
Donna & Stuart Ganslaw, our club champion, visit with their grandchildren in Upstate NY. Don't they all look happy?
Melanie Loring (bottom) with a few of her friends, saying good bye to summer back North. Are we tan enough??
Annette & David Wolf are visiting Rome, Italy. Why is Annette always eating in every picture?
Danny & Harriet Mironov are traveling to London, England and then on to Base, Switzerland. I hope they buy a watch there!
Barbora, our last tennis pro, left Addison Reserve to pursue her dream to play competitive beach tennis. I guess she has already succeeded since she came in 1st and 2nd place at a tournament in Greece!

Our daughter Lea won the primary election this week for Broward County Circuit Court Judge. She is now in a runoff in the November 8th General Election. We are so proud of her! Laura & Jeff Krauss.
