Hanukkah began this past Tuesday, December 12
th,
and that evening, naturally, it was celebrated in true Addison Reserve style. Over 225 members and their families gathered in "Taste", our main dining room, and brought in the holiday with traditional Jewish delicacies, from chicken soup to our favorite desserts. What a beautiful way to begin our holiday season

Our Men's Member-Member golf tournament was held this past Friday and Saturday. 120 men participated in a 4 format style for 2 days in succession. This event is usually one of the most competitive tournaments of the season. The winners were:

On Saturday morning, Addison had many activities going on at the same time. First, as mentioned above, was the second day of our Men's Member-Member. Second, our golf professionals ran a chipping clinic for those working on the finer points of their chipping game. Thirdly, tennis was very busy as usual with all the courts being occupied. Also Saturday morning was the long awaited opening of our new Pickleball Courts. Over 50 pickleball players and staff showed up to welcome the hottest new sport to hit the Florida athletic scene in years. Pickleball has taken off in popularity like no other sport in recent memory. Most, if not all, local country clubs are now building or adding on more pickleball courts for their communities. Even the Celebrity cruise lines are bringing pickleball onto their ocean cruises. We here in Addison now have 4 amazing courts located at the rear of the driving range. We are thrilled that our staff added another amazing activity for our membership to enjoy. Come on down, there are players playing every morning and many games in the afternoon as well. Stay fit and work out, pickleball gives you both. Heathy fruit, shakes & pickles were served throughout the opening. Door prizes were distributed as well. Also, our professionals were giving free clinics to all our beginners, which they intend to continue. It certainly was an amazing morning at Addison.

Friday afternoon Larry met with Mike Glussman to discuss some Architectural review information on a house we represent in Addison. Along came our CEO, Michael McCarthy, and they asked him to join them in their discussion. They sat and discussed many aspects of our country club life. You know, Michael has many supported, a few detractors, but who doesn't? Look around at what we now have at our country club. We have come a long way since he arrived 10 years ago. Our "Styr" is the most active Sports Bar and dining facility of any country club in Palm Beach County. Michael walks the halls of Addison 10 times a day. He is approachable and loves to discuss anything and everything about our club. If you have an issue, call him. While we are your "Go-To" real estate agents in Addison Reserve, he should be your "Go-To" person do discuss and solve any of your issues here in our club. He is only a phone call away.

Friday evening at Styr was again "the place to be." Over 200 members and guests gathered to enjoy another fun filled evening of camaraderie and enjoyment. Discussions varied from everything from golf, tennis, politics and families. Of course our golfers were discussing every shot that they played in Fridays first day of Member-Member. All our ladies are always amazed that they are able to remember not only their shots, but every shot that was hit in the foursome in which they played. It's a man thing. Getting back to the evening, the music played, our members danced and everyone had a wonderful time.

Saturday evening we decided to join our good friends, Bob & Shelly Galardi, for a pre-birthday celebration. Sam, our newest Manager to join the Addison staff, was informed ahead of time of our celebration. He arranged for balloons and a singing tribute, at which time about half of the other guests dining in "Taste" sang along. A sparking candle with dessert rounded out the meal. As Always, we experienced a delightful dinner and Cherie felt very special. Thank you Sam & thank you Addison for another wonderful year at our club!

Sunday again was "Football at Styr". This week's featured game on the big screen was Philadelphia against our lowly New York Giants. Our Giants gave it their best efforts but to no avail as those Eagles, to the delight of all our Eagle fans, won for the 12th time this season. Also, on the smaller screens, many fans watched the Jets lose to The New Orleans Saints 31-19 & the usual members and their every Sunday guests cheered on their Packers, but left with heavy hearts with their defeat to the Panthers 31-24. The late afternoon game brought out a bunch of New England Patriot & Pittsburgh Steeler fans in a great game that went down to the last minute, where the Patriots defeated those Steelers 27-24. It was a great afternoon of Football in Styr.

Monday morning was our monthly open Board Meeting. Barry Gordon, our President, led the meeting and all departments were reported on and many issues of importance were discussed. Barry, as always, sent out a letter to membership detailing the meeting. Our Board meetings are always public to all members of our club. If anyone ever has an issue, our board is there to listen and discuss. All interested members are welcome and should come and see the inner works of our country club.

THE NEW: "BUZZ'S BIG BRAG BOX
Thomas Shullman, Diane & Richie Shullman's grandson, & their son's Michael & John played golf & had lunch with Joe Girardi (former NY Yankees manager) at Boca West Country Club this past week. Thomas, age 9, a devoted NY Yankees fan, was floating on air. Joe was a super guy. Great day & fun for all!
