Dear Colleague,
I would like to share some good news. In July 2021, I joined Consensus Health, a rapidly growing physician-led multi-specialty medical practice for New Jersey’s independent physicians with locations throughout New Jersey. My decision to join Consensus Health was driven by my desire to continue to care for heart transplant candidates, heart transplant recipients, and patients with all forms of advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock. To this end, I developed and have now launched the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Medicine Program. By doing this, I will be able to maintain existing, and establish new, professional relationships with primary care physicians and cardiologists practicing in the region.

Having access to the latest imaging modalities, innovative technologies, and research trials is critical to managing patients with advanced cardiac failure, including patients with amyloid, sarcoid, chemotherapy-related cardiac dysfunction, and pulmonary hypertension. These technologies may include PET scanning, T1 and T2 MRI imaging, invasive exercise stress testing, baroreceptor activation therapy, cardiac contractility modulation, infusion therapies, investigational drugs and devices and genetic testing (~25% of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy will have an affected first-degree relative).

While many of these therapies (including genetic testing) are available at Consensus Health, for those that are not, I have been working collaboratively with the teams at Morristown and Jefferson Health. Ultimately, the most important aspect of managing advanced heart failure patients and/or patients with cardiogenic shock is to have familiarity with what is available beyond guideline-directed medical therapy and the ability to intervene in a timely manner.

I am presently seeing consultations at Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.

I appreciate the trust you have placed in me over the years and look forward to serving you and your patients in the future. If I can answer any questions or provide additional support, please feel free to call me.
Respectfully yours,

Mark J Zucker, MD, J.D., FACC, FACP, FCCP
