Helping Hawks through
Donor Advised Funds
Our students are benefiting from recent donations made by Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) of several alumni. These are some of the largest charities in the country, philanthropic vehicles established by institutions like investment firms and community foundations that play a significant role in Planned Giving. Some of the largest DAFs are at Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard.
DAFs are a big deal to non-profit schools like Hudson Catholic, and are an important tool for donors in times of crisis. In the wake of the twin crises of the global COVID pandemic and economic recession, DAFs have been making a significant impact. Investment growth of securities placed in these funds enables DAFs to far outpace average growth in charitable giving, and DAF sponsoring organizations and community foundations reported significant increases in grants during the early part of the COVID pandemic.
While DAFs render the decisions about how funds will be distributed to non-profits, the donors can recommend where money be directed. In this regard, Hudson Catholic, donors, and DAF sponsoring organizations can work together to direct DAF grants toward our school.
We ask those who have Donor Advised Funds to keep Hudson Catholic in your charitable giving plans, and suggest to your Fund that a gift be made to Hudson Catholic.
