The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce Emerging Issues Forum provides an avenue for Oceanside Chamber members to learn about key community issues, interact with legislative representatives and receive updates on legislative items impacting business. This meeting is open to all Oceanside Chamber members, and is held the 1st Thursday, of every month, from 8am to 9:30am in the Oceanside Chamber Conference Room.

On September 17th and 18th 2022 the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce along with Tri-City Medical Center, Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians and Genentech ​ will present Oceanside Harbor Days at the Oceanside Harbor. The event will feature arts and craft exhibits, great food and fun activities for the entire family. The event is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.

City of Oceanside Homeless Shelter Update

(Source: City of Oceanside) - To address the homeless crisis in Oceanside and to mitigate community impacts, the City of Oceanside is preparing for its first year-round homeless shelter. A property was purchased, construction costs were approved, and an operating agreement was signed with the San Diego Rescue Mission for the "Oceanside Navigation Center" at the centrally-located 3131 Oceanside Boulevard property.  

Property improvements are underway; internal demolition is nearly complete and site furnishings have begun to arrive. Unforseen site issues have slowed some work, but construction is expected to be complete around the end of the year. 

Get Grants of Up to $2,000 Per Employee Out on Paid Family Leave

Do you have employees out on California Paid Family Leave? The California Paid Familiy Leave Grant (CPFLG) allows eligible small businesses in California with 1-100 employees with at least one (1) employee utilizing California’s Paid Family Leave program to apply for grants up to $2,000 per employee to offset the increased costs associated with the employee out on leave.

Businesses impacted by California’s Paid Family Leave program will have increased costs such as training and upskilling existing staff to cover the duties of the employee on California’s Paid Family Leave; hiring and training additional staff to cover the duties of the employee on California’s Paid Family Leave; and marketing, recruitment, and other reasonably foreseeable training costs

SDCWA Water-Use Efficiency Rebates for Businesses

Summer means water conservation across San Diego County. As extreme drought grips the Southwest, businesses across California are taking a variety of water-saving actions. In fact, the State of California has banned watering grass in commercial-industrial-institutional settings that is “solely ornamental” and not regularly used for recreational purposes or community events. Thankfully, the San Diego County Water Authority and its 24 member agencies offer incentives such as rebates and other resources to help businesses save money while saving water.

Frontwave Arena Coming to Oceanside 2023

Frontwave Credit Union and O'side Arena Management have reached a naming rights partnership for the new state-of-the-art community entertainment and sports arena being built in Oceanside, heretofore to be named Frontwave Arena. Future home of the 16X Champion San Diego Sockers, the new Frontwave Arena, slated to open in 2023, will host more than 6,000 fans for sporting events and up to 7,600 for concerts. Having served the Oceanside community for 70 years, Frontwave Credit Union was a natural partner for the new project, which will serve not only as a community gathering space, but also as an important economic driver for the area. This Casual Pizza Place Just Won a Fancy National Wine Award

(Source: San Diego Magazine) - It’s one thing to have a great wine list, it’s another to have Wine Spectator agree that your collection has bragging rights.  But this kind of accolade only comes after plenty of hard work. It took Susan Porter-Guarino, the wine and beverage director of Privateer Coal Fire Pizza in Oceanside, months of preparation and hours of computer time to submit her application for the award.

Insipring the Next Generation 

(Source: Tri-City Medical Center) - Tri-City Medical Center (TCMC) participated in the Boys and Girls Club of Vista (BGCV) Summer “Career Fair” as part of an ongoing partnership through the hospital’s COASTAL Commitment program. COASTAL stand for Community Outreach and Support Through Active Leadership. The program encompasses more than 80 partners in Carlsbad, Vista, Oceanside and the surrounding communities.

Members of the External Affairs team, Jessica Shrader, Cassie Klapp and Kelsey Fetzer attended the career fair and spoke with the children. The TCMC team answered their questions, told the kids about their career journey and how they came to work at TCMC. Senior Director of Business Development at TCMC, Jeremy Raimo serves on the Board at BGCV.
