An important component of the City’s General Plan Update, the updated CAP will account for projected future growth and new state GHG emissions reduction targets. The updated CAP will include greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction measures addressing land use, transportation, energy use in buildings, water use, solid waste, and opportunities to capture and store atmospheric carbon. Chamber Joins Coalition to Seek Reform to PAGA
The Oceanside Chamber has partnered with a group of diverse businesses and industries up and down the state to advocate for meaningful reform of California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). Enacted in 2004, PAGA was intended to help workers resolve labor disputes. Two decades later, it has become abundantly clear that PAGA’s lawsuit-first approach has failed – it’s ineffective and inefficient for California workers and unfair for thousands of small businesses. California has an existing, capable administrative process and agency – the Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) – that has a proven record of resolving claims faster with money going directly into workers' pockets. Our coalition is looking for business owners/employers and employees who have been victimized by abusive PAGA lawsuits over minor technical issues. We’d like to amplify your story so that legislators and the rest of California understands the real need for a better, fairer system.
If you’re interested in engaging, please contact Chamber CEO, Scott Ashton at 760-722-1534 or scott@oceansidechamber.com. More Info.

Beware of Unscrupulous Life Insurance Agents
(Source: San Diego County District Attorney’s Office) – Over the past several years, I have warned the public of scammers trying to get their hands on your money using a wide variety of methods. But one type of scammer who does tremendous damage is not a faceless stranger who contacts you on the Internet, by text message, or phone call. This threat comes with a friendly, often familiar, face. It's your friendly, neighborhood life insurance agent.
