Nominations are Open for the UDC Law Top 50! | |

To celebrate 50 Years of UDC Law, we are establishing a Hall of Fame to honor alumni (living or deceased) whose exemplary careers, extraordinary service or outstanding contributions to UDC Law have significantly impacted our community and beyond.
The inaugural Hall of Fame class will consist of up to 50 individuals who will be recognized at the UDC Law Gala on November 17, 2022. More information on the event will be available in the coming weeks (sign up to be among the first to hear about the gala).

A virtual Hall of Fame will be established to include photos and bios of the Hall of Fame honorees and live permanently on the UDC Law website.

DC Affordable Law Firm welcomes three UDC Law alumni to fellowship program | |
|
Dionne Dillard, Loishirl Hall and Forrest Yang Lindelof will begin fellowships at DC Affordable Law Firm (DCALF) next month, where they will provide affordable and accessible legal services to modest- and lower-income D.C. residents. As part of the fellowship, all three 2022 graduates will receive a no-cost LL.M. in Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center while working with DCALF.

Christina Modi '15 nails it on Celebrity Family Feud | |

Christina Modi ’15 appeared on Celebrity Family Feud earlier in July as a member of Team Penn Station (actor Kal Penn) taking on Team Christensen (actor Erika Christensen). Penn Station pulled out a late win thanks to Modi’s dynamite Fast Money answers. It’s a good thing Modi racked up 181 points because Penn’s performance was hilariously subpar. He did, however, manage to gain the necessary 19 points to take the win, with the team receiving $25,000 for Baby2Baby.
Modi said, “Filming Celebrity Family Feud was such a blast. Steve Harvey was as funny as I expected, and the show was a great opportunity to earn money for a nonprofit while spending time with family. The show also made two gifs of me and that has greatly amused the rest of my family.”
Modi is Penn’s sister-in-law.

National Association of Women Lawyers seeking host committee members | | |

Help plan the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) 18th General Counsel Institute by joining the GCI18 Host Committee. GCI18 will take place Thursday, November 10 through Friday, November 11, 2022, in New York City. It's the first in-person GCI conference since 2019.
Host committee members plan the conference and use their networks to ensure the event is a hit. Host committees are a great way to meet other NAWL members and help shape NAWL events.

2022 marks 50 years of UDC Law. We’re celebrating all year with special events, programming and other opportunities to celebrate the pioneering legacy of UDC Law. Through these efforts, we’re rededicating ourselves to our mission of diversifying the legal profession and serving the residents of the District of Columbia.
Join us throughout the year as we commemorate key moments from our 50-year history and invite our extended community to share in our efforts to achieve our mission. We will highlight our integral role in the early days of clinical legal education and how our clinical program remains an innovative and powerful tool for serving D.C. residents who could not otherwise afford legal services. We’ll hear from some of the transformative voices that have shaped our history and those that will shape our future. We’ll honor figures with whom our story could not have been told, and we’ll tell the stories that will shape our next 50 years.
