Message from the Dean

As we prepare to welcome new and returning Aggies for the Fall 2025 semester, I’m proud to share some exciting developments that underscore the strength and momentum of the College of Engineering (COE).

The COE leads the university in research funding, securing nearly $28 million in total awards for Fiscal Year 2025 – an all-time high for the college. Our research expenditures have steadily increased over the past three years, reaching over $20 million in FY25 – representing a nearly 7% increase from the previous year. For perspective, our original 2027 goals were $26 million in new funding and $20 million in expenditures – benchmarks we’ve surpassed ahead of schedule.

These accomplishments are the result of the collective efforts of our department heads, faculty, staff, and the outstanding leadership of the Office of Engineering Research. I’m sincerely grateful for their hard work

and dedication.

David Jáuregui, Ph.D.

Interim Dean

On the facilities side, the demolition of Thomas and Brown Hall is nearing completion, and construction is progressing on the New Mexico Mutual Metal Additive Manufacturing Center. These projects represent a new era for engineering at NMSU – expanding and modernizing the spaces that support the hands-on, innovative learning experiences our students expect and deserve.

We’re looking forward to seeing campus come alive again in just a couple of weeks as we welcome back our returning Aggies and extend a warm reception to our incoming students. We’re excited to have you as part of our NMSU engineering community.

Go Aggies!
