Anchorage Youth Development Coalition: Seeking Program Manager! Center for Safe Alaskans (Safe Alaskans) promotes wellbeing, the prevention of injuries and improved safety of Alaskans. The core values guiding our work are to be innovative, collaborative, inclusive and respectful, data-driven, and strengths-based. The public health model is the foundation of our work.
The Anchorage Youth Development Coalition (AYDC) is housed at Safe Alaskans and supports youth-serving organizations through advocacy, resources, networking, and training, so all Anchorage youth thrive. We are a broad and inclusive coalition of over 60 youth-serving organizations, businesses, and individuals working to create shared community practices around professional youth work. The Program Manager will support planning, implementation, and evaluation of program activities for AYDC.

Updates from the Alliance Workgroups
Regional Co-Chairs: The regional co-chairs have been meeting monthly, as scheduled. We recently welcomed Johon Atkinson, from Metlakatla, to our group and he jumped in head first to do a social media training during the Integration Session held on January 20. We have been discussing a regional co-chair “builder” role that will serve as a liaison and mentor for both current and incoming co-chairs. Regional co-chairs will also support the Alaska Wellness & Prevention Symposium as MCs.
Evaluation & Learning Workgroup: In January, the Evaluation & Learning Workgroup finalized the annual evaluation questions and methods, and prepared for upcoming peer interview sessions that will be held in March. During their meeting, the group also had a great discussion about the weaver role, tasks, responsibilities, time commitments, the importance of the position, and other job considerations.
Social Norms Campaign (Communications Workgroup): The group has been working on outreach and testing for the Underage Drinking Prevention Campaign. The group is looking for people to participate in feedback opportunities for the productions. Our timeline was recently extended from March 2023 to the end of this fiscal year (and beyond to 2024, if needed.) This hasn’t been determined yet.
The Strategy & Design Workgroup: The Strategy & Design Workgroup is developing an aim statement for the merged group and is continuing to think through methods for managing the work that is part of our workgroup’s purview, including member roles and transition planning.
