Families Helping Families
We're excited to be forming a Leadership Advisory Team here at JFS Connecting Hearts.
We are looking for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents to share their expertise!

  • Do you have experience with marketing, volunteering, or business that could help us strengthen and develop our programs? 
  • Would you like to help build a family-to-family support network here in Virginia? 
  • Could you help us develop our family recruitment program?

We All Know Someone!
In May we will launch our new recruitment campaign for National Foster Care Month! We have designed the message to encourage the public to get involved, even it they can’t be a foster parents themselves. Our campaign will focus on letting Richmond know that if you want to help a child in foster care, there is a seat at the table for you! We will be encouraging everyone to consider:

  • mentoring a child (perhaps through Big Brother/Big Sister), 
  • becoming a respite family, 
  • organizing supply drives for families, or
  • training to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

Want to get involved? We have a quick way you can help! Post one of these "storyboards" to your social media page. Share your story and the kind of support your family finds valuable. You can also find frames for your Facebook profile picture in May by searching JFS Connecting Hearts! (Check out this link for more instructions on how to do that.) We all know someone that may be looking for a way to help kids in foster care!
Talk Tuesday
We're now scheduling weekly Talk Tuesdays through Zoom! We hope these Talks will help you get connected with others and get your questions about foster care answered.
