WELCOMING CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK
Children's Mental Health Awareness week is May 3 - 9 and Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is May 7.
The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month.
We have many joyful memories of previous Children's Mental Health Awareness Weeks and Days with you and truly miss being with all of you in person this year. But we hope that we will be together for online events this week and throughout the month so that we can Bring Children's Mental Health into Focus together.
Please join us Thursday, May 7, at 1 PM on Facebook Live to celebrate Children's Mental Health Awareness and share your real-world tips for coping with COVID. We will then have our weekly virtual support group for families at 4:30 Thursday afternoon. All families are welcome to attend the support group. You can register here.
On Wednesday from 3:30 - 5 PM, we will do an interactive webinar on Family-Driven Practice for providers who work with families in any system. This is a one-time training that will be repeated every Wednesday in May (in other words you are not expected to sign up for all four sessions if interested -- just one). Although this training is focused on supporting providers, families are always welcome to attend any of our training.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at this Friday's 1 PM #ApartButNotAlone webinar, Family Driven Practice: What it Means and Why It Matters. Check out our events page for additional Friday webinars in this series.
We're delighted to share a guest blog from Katelyn Brown, Miss Presley Heights in the Miss Mississippi Competition, in honor of May as Mental Health Awareness month. We also want to thank Dr. Allen Richert, Director of the Division of Sleep Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for doing an interview in response to families' questions about how to help our children sleep during this somewhat upside-down time.
We very much appreciate Mangia Bene Restaurant Management Group Inc. and Jeff E. Good for supporting Childrens Mental Health Awareness Week and Families As Allies by including both in their outreach this week. If you frequent BRAVO! Italian Restaurant and Bar, Sal & Mookie's New York Pizza & Ice Cream Joint or Broad Street Bakery & Cafe curbside this week, please give them a big thank you for caring about childrens mental health. #CMHAW
