Throughout the past few weeks, all of us have been trying to figure out how to navigate things we have never faced before, especially for our children. It is hard and at times scary.
Much uncertainty remains, but I am touched by how many times I have seen one person find a safe way to reach out to encourage and help someone else. I am convinced that the power of those connections will help all of us, and our children, get through this.
Please know that we may be apart, but none of us is alone. We care deeply about every family, every child, every supporter and every partner who is a part of Families as Allies. If you just want someone to talk to, we are here for you 601-355-0915. Just leave a message and we will quickly call you back.
Thank you to those of you who have joined our online events. Please join our virtual family support group this Thursday at 4:30, and check out our members-only family Facebook groups where families can share ideas and support each other.
We are also kicking off a series of weekly Friday webinars starting Friday, April 17, featuring some of our most popular topics that have been updated to include information specifically related to coping with the coronavirus pandemic. You can learn more about our first webinar here. Our webinars are open to anyone who is interested.
We recently alerted you that the federal COVID-19 recovery package also includes language that permits the United States Department of Education Secretary to ask Congress to allow changes to the services, rights, and protections in childrens IEPs and 504 Plans.
