Did You Know...

...that President, Dawn Johnson is gearing up to hike the Camino de Santiago (Camino del Norte) in 2027! This amazing adventure certainly sounds like a bucket-list journey.

When she’s not leading our club, Dawn serves as the Associate Director for Operations & Finance, at the University of Michigan’s Museum of Natural History.

Dawn’s family is spread far and wide: her mom Diane and stepdad Jim live in New Jersey, her dad Charles and wife, Chris, are in Manchester, Michigan, and her brother resides in North Carolina.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, yoga, hiking, and paddleboarding. She has a brilliant snack hack: when enjoying a bag of crunchy Cheetos, Dawn eats them with chopsticks so she doesn’t get orange fingers!

Here’s another fun fact about Dawn, before her current career, she ran nursing homes in Florida for six years.

Dawn’s Rotary story began thanks to Lois and Len Stenger, members of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology where she was working, who encouraged her to meet Norman Herbert. Norman worked his magic and Dawn joined soon after. She says Rotary gives her a sense of community and serves as her “compass,” guiding many of her decisions and life choices. Over the years, she has served as chair of both the Membership Committee and the Program Committee.
