She Leads Symposium @ WashU

Note from the Associate Director

Dear Fellows,

For those who were able to engage with the She Leads Symposium @ WashU events, I hope you felt the same sense of community and empowerment that I did! We’re already looking forward to the 50th anniversary next year.

Up next for Fellows is a special Academic Budget Workshop. This is an opportunity for you to learn about high level budgeting concepts and best practices within academia. Many of you plan to go into the academy and, though practices will vary by institution, it will be beneficial for you to understand general models of graduate student funding. This is an exceptional opportunity to hear from the former dean of the Olin Business School, Dr. Mahendra Gupta, along with other current and former directors of Graduate Studies, to discuss multiple perspectives on budgeting and funding within various disciplines on November 16 (5 p,m.) in The Graduate Center. A light dinner will be served, so please RSVP by November 8.

I look forward to seeing you there!

—Jessica Weldon, associate director, fellowships and funding
