Dear People of Annunciation,
I bring you greetings from the "other" West Coast, where I have spent the past several days in Southern California and the Central Coast. After the prolonged dealings with attorneys and engineers, it has been good to get away and uncharge. I have spent the past several days exploring the sights and enjoying a shoreline that is quite different from our own in Florida. Heading north of Los Angeles, many portions of the coast are protected and undeveloped. Like Florida, the actual beaches are public immediately adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, so I had the whole thing to myself at one point during a 6½-mile hike toward Point Conception. The temperatures feel like our winter, with highs in the mid-60s.
I wish to thank Fr. Bruce for supplying for me this past Thursday, I am also grateful to Bishop Garrison who will do the heavy lifting of preaching Trinity Sunday this coming weekend. I also know that many of you are joining me in taking some time for rest and relaxation over the coming weeks. Wherever you find yourself, I hope you discover that God has joined you in your journey. I encourage you to seek out the local church and join them for worship in person. And when you are at home, please come join us to celebrate the Eucharist in person at Annunciation.
With thanksgiving for your partnership in the Gospel,
Matthew+
