Seeking Family to participate in Video Project

We are looking for a family to feature in this year’s Food for Thought video. The goal is to highlight the strengths of one of our families, to honor them, and to have family members speak in their own words about their relationship with Communities In Schools. Email Debra Joiner to learn more and to recommend a family to participate.

Stewardship Opportunity for Program Managers

The Development team is in the midst of our annual Ready for School Drive, raising funds for the purchase and distribution of school supplies to each campus this fall. To show our appreciation to the folks who have generously donated to the drive, we are looking for a Program Manager to record a short video (~5 seconds) of a small group of student recipients holding their new supplies and saying “thank you.” We would need the video by Thursday, September 1. If you can identify 3-4 students who would be a fit for this short video clip, please email Lila Weatherly Rivera for more information, including the necessary parent permissions. Thank you for helping us show our dedicated supporters the impact their giving can make!

Julieth said Yes to CIS because...

"I saw a family instead of a job and a program that would allow me to practice social work the way I think it is meant to be-walking alongside families while we all figure out life together."

Fun Fact about Julieth...

"I live in a co-op with 11 other people and officially have over 65 plant babies that I get to learn from and care for."

My favorite way to spend my time outside of work...

"has been in ways that connect me back to the world and help guide me towards balance and love."

Employee Spotlight: Julieth Reyes, CIS Care Coordinator

Julieth is celebrating 3 years with CIS. She says, "one thing that has changed is having to make time to meet with and get to know my wonderful colleagues. Before the pandemic I loved always running into our ever growing CIS family everywhere I went. Since the pandemic I’ve realized how immensely important those relationships are and have been trying to more consciously make time to meet and talk with all the amazing people we get to work with. I’ll never turn down an opportunity for friends and food.

One thing that has remained the same is the passion and love that we have for the work we do and our endless pursuit for equality. Seeing my colleagues speak up and speak out about things that MUST change and should no longer be brushed under the rug always fills my advocacy heart."
