NSPS Awards
NSPS is hoping that if you haven’t yet submitted people, projects, articles or maps that are worth submittal that you will in the next week. It is an honor to be recognized by your peers and unfortunately not enough people take the time to make a submittal. But how cool would it be to sign emails as National Map Winning Draftsman or 2019 NSPS Affiliate of the Year? Please consider entering some or all these awards or contests.

In honor of Earle J. Fennell, ACSM President 1966-1967 and ACSM Executive Director 1968-1971, ACSM created this award to be presented for distinguished educational contributions to the surveying and mapping profession.

NASA MAKES NEWS WITH SURVEY TECH
NASA scientists made the news recently with a technology that all land surveyors are intimately familiar with. NASA placed an experimental retroreflector array (survey prisms) aboard the ill fated Israeli Moon Lander in preparation for establishing a control network that could guide future moon landers to a safe and precise landing on the moon's surface. The photo of the array below should be instantly recognizable by land surveyors as a multi-prism array similar to many of the retro reflectors used on a daily basis by conventional land surveying crews. Apparently this is new technology on the moon, so heads up land surveyors, there may be a new career option for you soon!
