washThe Arc Maryland Goes to Washington

In the early morning hours of September 25, The Arc Maryland with several of our coalition partners, descended upon Washington DC.

Once again, Medicaid was under attack with the introduction of the Graham-Cassidy bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

In less than 24 hours, The Arc Maryland assembled parents, employees, volunteers and self-advocates, representing several of our local chapter organizations and the advocacy organization, People on the Go Maryland to attend the one and only hearing that was scheduled on the bill. We bused down to our nation's capital and joined hundreds of other advocates from around the nation to speak out on the impacts of bill. The grassroots response to this threat was incredible and the withdrawal of the bill showed us, once again, how very powerful our stories and voices really are.
