SPOTLIGHT: Supported Decision-Making and Future Planning Trainings
Learn About Supported Decision-Making
May 21 at 6:30 pm CT
Wisconsin now has one of the nation’s only supported decision-making laws. Supported Decision-Making can allow older adults and people with disabilities to retain their authority to make life decisions, while also having trusted people provide support. In this webinar, learn how supported decision-making is different than guardianship, what the SDM law in Wisconsin does, and how you might use it in your life or to support a family member. Limited spots remain!
Future Planning Training Opportunities
The Arc Wisconsin is providing a one-hour interactive lesson on future planning at a variety of upcoming community events co-hosted by TMG . We are also partnering with The Wisconsin Women’s Council at a variety of caregiving listening sessions throughout Wisconsin communities.

Wisconsin Advocates Travel to Washington DC
The Arc Wisconsin recently led a group of Wisconsin advocates in meetings in Washington, D.C. for the Disability Policy Seminar. See the public policy briefs we used on those visits to talk about concerns and progress in Wisconsin here .
The State of Wisconsin
On May 8, The Arc Wisconsin held its statewide chapter meeting. We heard from expert speakers from the Department of Health Services and learned about the new Supported Decision-Making law from Tami Jackson with The Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities. The Arc is a great place to learn about best practices, get the latest news on policy changes, and connect with other advocates statewide. Do you want to start a chapter in your area? Contact us
